Was in for LSU parents weekend this past weekend and stopped at the Highland location on the way out Sunday for lunch. Disappointed to say the least. Food has gone way down. Also, as mentioned earlier, wait staff not very attractive.
On the other hand, was in BTR a few weeks back and ate at the Perkins Rd Georges. It was solid as always.

Waiter jobs aren’t popular with college aged people like they were 20 or so years ago. I’ve definitely noticed the same thing.

In my opinion, Sammy’s is the most overrated restaurant in the BR area. Well, other than Pastime.

You can only get by on reputation for so long. Even when I was in college in the late 2000s /early 2010s I generally didn’t go out of my way to eat there. Besides the crawfish I don’t remember anything great.

This x 1000. Pastime’s pizza is on Chuck-e Cheese level and I’m being generous.

Never been.

No real desire to go.

Menu does not jibe with what the place appears to want to be.

I never passed that spot on Burbank and thought "you know what would go great here...?" and the answer be a place like CC.

Eh, I've been several times and have enjoyed it. It's close to my house, and aside from the tacos, I don't find that it's any more expensive than other places that serve similar fare.

I'd eat there 10 times out of 10 over Sammy's.

Several reasons that I’ve seen. 1) they think those jobs are beneath them. 2) Parents are paying all of their bills and give them credit cards to spend on 3) money isn’t good enough. It’s a real issue, especially in New Orleans, staffing is really tough.

4.) they can find a weird guy online to pay them 100 bucks for their used socks

I used to go to the Highland location all the time and sit in the bar area. I made friends with the staff and bartenders and there was little staff turnover. Food was good and consistent.

Sammy was pulling out a butt load of $$ when Jason was there. When Jason left, food quality started to fall off but most of the Highland staff stayed around for a while. I was told Sammy was still pulling lots of $$ out even though the sales figures were falling off at all locations.

Then the perfect storm started happen.

Some of the regulars left the Highland location(Gary Chambers / Mike Erwin incident).

Food continued to go to crap.

Jason pulled some of the staff away from Zachary (they went to The Francis) and that location became a money pit.

Sammy got tied into Creole Cabana.

Lost liquor license for a while (during their busiest time of year - crawfish season).

Bonfanti died.

Was told some of his suppliers put them on COD (I heard one was Sysco but that is hearsay).

I think it is only a matter of time. I was told a few months back that a few restaurants had their eye on the Highland location (one being Parrain's).

Well now that he doesn’t own the real estate it’s just a matter of time. Jarreau will give him the boot.
