Apparently whoever bought Sammy’s for $8.5 million also owns the Creole Cabana. That group is shelling out some serious cash for some very questionable valuations. Sammy must have made off like a bandit from that deal.

Creole Cabana also sucks and has to be very expensive to run. The food there is decent but incredibly over priced. The building is enormous and I imagine they have sunk quite a bit into the beach volleyball bar/restaurant

The Oasis is owned by Chris Shaheen, Matt Noel and Sammy.

The $8.5 million was for real estate only at Highland Road and Prairieville properties in a buy-leaseback. Donnie Jarreau and his partner did that and have no stake in Creole Cabana. And if Sammy goes under Jarreau will find someone to take those locations.

The Oasis is a major drain on Sammy’s finances as he’s on the hook. Also the money paid included the debt load on the existing real estate and Steve Bonfanti’s estate had a stake in it so whatever the remaining cash more than likely wasn’t substantial and got hoovered up to cover Sammy’s obligations. Unfortunately short term debt normally gets paid last. ie...the plumber, supplier and payroll etc.

Hope they get things righted. Started going to Sammy's probably 2 weeks after it first opened way back when.

I did too and hope so as well but Superior Grill is putting a hurt on him at Highland Road in addition to his other issues.

And I’ve never been but the Creole Cabana has to be sucking up cash as he was a partner in the complete development and that’s not a get rich quick asset. You have to shove some tacos out the door to service that note.

Never been.

No real desire to go.

Menu does not jibe with what the place appears to want to be.

I never passed that spot on Burbank and thought "you know what would go great here...?" and the answer be a place like CC.

Doesn't sound good
I've always preferred George's over Sammy's but last time I went to George's it appears their business is not what it once was and it was during lunch which has always been crowded.
A lot of competition out there now and I think both are feeling the effects of that.

I went there a few months backs and noticed you could get anything from a plate of pot roast to spaghetti and meatballs. I always remember this place being a seafood restaurant growing up. WTH were they doing with the menu. I’m sure their food cost were through the roof with all these stupid menu items.

College students don’t have waitressing jobs anymore, especially the good looking ones.

Several reasons that I’ve seen. 1) they think those jobs are beneath them. 2) Parents are paying all of their bills and give them credit cards to spend on 3) money isn’t good enough. It’s a real issue, especially in New Orleans, staffing is really tough.

That stopped in the mid-late 00s. The prairieville one actually had a gay dude as a waiter. Big time disappointment.

For you sjw's, if he was straight I would've been pissed. Sammy's has always been girl servers.
