We're having a little get together next weekend. I was looking at trying to help the wife with an alternative. Has anyone used and/or experienced the catering from Rouses? I assume it is probably good enough for a party of 30'ish people.

Never had them but the menu and prices look good. I'm always in need of a finger sandwich platter.

I've only done the finger sandwiches, mini muffalettas, and the chicken and sausage gumbo, but they were all solid.

The chicken salad on croissant tray is the bees knees. We get one every year for the in-laws Christmas party.

This is all good to hear. Looking at doing:

Deviled Eggs, Eggrolls, Meatballs, & Shrimp Dip

Columbus deli sammiches, Mini Muffs & Pinwheel

Shrimp fettuccini & Jambalaya.

ETA: Scratch deviled eggs

Most Mardi Gras parties I go to have the chicken fingers from the Napoleon location, and I like them.

Chicken salad sandwiches are the bomb, cant really screw up a ham and turkey sandwich
Egg rolls are decent if you get them hot
They have some pretty good fried catfish
white beans are hit or miss
See if you can get some stuffed cabbage rolls, I can't ever seem to pass them things up when they have them

We've gone with the fried chicken (bone-in) the last few Mardi Gras and have enjoyed it.

Mini-muffs are good too

I appreciate all of the feedback. If the wife signs off, we'll probably go that route. Seems like it will be the easiest.

I love rouses, but never really like their prepared foods. Haven't tried their sandwiches though.

Having got stuff from both Alexanders and rouses... I prefer Alexanders. A little more pricey, but I find it's better food.

Add on top of that my wife called a week in advance to place an order for a party, called the afternoon before to see what time she could pick it up and they had no clue who she was. Placed the order again with them on Friday to pick up in Saturday. Went in to pick up and they couldn't find her order. Manager came out and said... oh I know who did it, he has done this before.

Last time I order from there. Chicken tenders were fine, but the dips were meh and the mini pivots were rather dry. Alexanders from here on out.

I don't know what Alexanders is, so I guess that's not an option. The Rouses by my house is one of the "Super-Rouses" that looks like WF. Hopefully they don't biff it. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

i get platters from rouse's pretty regularly to bring to customers. its not bad for the price.

i usually get the same things over and over.....so all i know is the 'mini poboys' are not poboys, just deli sandwiches on little french bread. not bad to eat, just not a poboy.

the meat pies are a good deal too.

We do it every year for our draft. Can't go wrong with the chicken tender tray. The meat pies and the egg rolls are a must. Jambalaya is decent, but lacks a lot of protein. Meat pies are definitely legit though.

We did some of their catering 2 months ago for my dad's 80th - used the store in Covington. Not impressed at all. Bread on finger sandwiches tasted stale. Mac n cheese was pretty watery. Also had a shrimp and pasta dish that looked like they used canned shrimp.
