seems like you are intentionally trying to flame in a thread. nothing in his review sounded snobby. i actually laughed at shooting evil eyes at the kid, because i'm sure we have all done it. and his waitress sounded like an idiot, so i don't blame the frustration there

I recounted the events of the night. It was for you to decide if the treatment was acceptable or not.

I would be a bigger douche if I returned to give them business after not enjoying my dining experience.

Oh, and lighten up Francis.

You listed the prices, and I don't see much of a problem with them, other than possibly a house chardonnay for $10 if it was not all that good of a wine.
Just sounds like an off night.

The prices are not out of bounds, I mostly didn't like the entree, which accounts for half the price of the meal.

I was there as well Saturday night, around 8 in the bar area. Soft Shell Crab was to die for. GF loved her Crabmeat Cheesecake. Had a bottle of Caymus for 99 bucks. ChaChing!

i have been wondering if we would start seeing some changes there with peter and ruffin completely in charge and no t.j. moran's pockets to fall back on ..

Place was packed as always TR. We stayed an extra hour at the bar and had a ball. This place only seems to get better IMO

And she was nice, which helped a lot. I gave her over 20% tip.

When did this happen? TJ sold his interest?
Peter and Ruffin will be just fine, they have a great name and goodwill, but they will be married to that place for awhile. Fine dining is a tough business. Confucious once said, "Feed the Kings and eat with the masses, feed the masses and eat with the Kings"!

When I go to a restaurant at 5:30, I try not to get annoyed when I'm confronted with small children. I actually appreciate their parents dining early before the dinner crowd comes in. That said, I would probably have asked for a different table if the kid was really loud. And I would have recommended to the manager that my server needed to be better trained on the bar side.

I would actually make more sense to had a kid free section. I think that is fair.

You've done it now... You're on the list. Watch your back, change your phone #, move... Or you'll be sleeping with the fishes

Yeah, and I am waiting to see how this review fares on Chicken's Dining Guide. I'd be surprised if it makes it.

i understand where you are coming from man, if you pay "top money" for a supposed "top flight" BR restaurant you expect an amazing meal, and you didn't get that, there are plenty other places you could have gone and for 139 had an amazing meal, but you chose Ruffino's, you have every right to be flustered, I personally don't go there anymore as I feel they don't strive for excellence, I think that comes from the mgt position and I think theirs is lacking

This sums up the way I have felt the past couple of times I have been. The service hasn't been great and the food has not been on par with other BR restaurants at similar price points. I'd rather take my business to Marcello's, Louisiana Lagniappe, or Roberto's right now.

Which three "overpriced" specials were you disappointed in, and how much were they?

I have been to Ruffino's about 9-10 times over the last few years and have never had a problem with service or the food. If anything I found the service to be a little overbearing (asking too much or trying to suggest too many things).

Everything has always been great and is one of my favorite restaurants in Baton Rouge.

Just my opinion but sounds like the original poster is a little picky. Then again, I don't have as high of expectations as some other people. I'm a little more laid back than most people I guess.
