Hi Y'all,

Looking to get a roasting pig (60-80lbs) to cook in my cajun microwave in 2 weeks.
Any suggestions for Baton Rouge area? Willing to drive ~1H if the price is right or the pig is good.

Thanks!

That’s a pretty big pig.

Maybe call Iverstine? I honestly have no clue. I go to Lafayette to buy hogs.

Iverstine and Twine are pricey. Looking into a few slaughterhouses. Where do you go in Lafayette?

I know a local dude who has a small operation for anything anyone could want (chickens, goats, hogs, rabbits, etc.). I'll get you a number. Send an email to my username at gmail and I'll give it to ya.

Call Scallan's and get one. They'll inject it for you beforehand.

Benoit's in Addis.

Pro tip. Do a small suckling pig and about 4-6 Boston butt roast instead. People will destroy a whole pig and too much good meat will be wasted.

Rouchers in Plaquemine will be able to take care of you. I’ve believe their slaughter day is Thursday. Be sure to call about a week in advance.

I've bought seasoned quartered and halved hogs from Lagneaux's on Ridge Rd.

Kirk Martin's Slaughterhouse on Beau Bassin Rd in Carencro (337) 896-8223 may also have what you're looking for.
When I make roasted pig face I will buy the pig head from KM's

Do cajun microwaves add any smoke flavor to the food?

No more than regular microwaves.
