Looking for a decent place other than the Old Mill to dine while in the Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg area next week. Any recommendations welcome.

Local Goat. Excellent casual restaurant. We went there four times in a week if that tells you anything. They have a solid beer menu as well.

I could eat Pancake Pantry every meal - their sandwiches and soups and pancakes are top-notch

Closer to Knoxville, but for a really good steak, try Ye Olde Steakhouse...

It really is, it's all frozen garbage.
Apple Barn is the same.
Shouldn't surprise you that people like it though, think about the quality of people that mostly hit that area.
Take a trip over to Highlands, NC area. Great restaurants scattered all over there and still some marvelous scenic areas to explore.

Somebody on the travel board rec'd Crystelle Creek restaurant between Gatlinburg and Pittman Center.
I too am compiling a list of restaurants for my upcoming trip.

If you don't mind the trip out to Maryville, Foothills Milling Co is good.

Is the Peddler in Gatlinburg still open? I had it about 10 years ago and it was great.

Pancake Pantry, Crockett’s, and Log Cabin for breakfast.
For dinner Local Goat & Peddler. I know it’s a cheesy chain restaurant but we were actually surprised at Paula Deens in PF. Maybe our expectations were just low but we found that it was better than Old Mill.
As far as lunch Mountain Edge Grill has a very good burger. I had the bison burger and it was really tasty, good in fact that we went the next day and I got the Bison & Elk burger!

Paula Deen's was the worst place we ate on our last visit. I was really disappointed. The best thing was the free cinnamon roll.
