That store is the Chevron on the east side of Bastrop, Louisiana.

Highway Fried Chicken on Jefferson Highway between the Huey P and New Orleans line is my go to in the New Orleans metro...very good.

Highway is good. I believe it use to be a Dot’s Diner. The corn fritters, too.

its not going to be a popular opinion but the best restaurant bird i've had in BR was at boil and roux on coursey. always take out though, our kind wasnt welcome to dine in

Tried it twice. First time was for lunch. Very unimpressive. Complete lack of seasoning. Fried beautifully, great crust, zero seasoning. Not even salt.

Went back a month later to hear a friend play music. We were two couples. I didn't know it but the wives ordered an 8pc box to go. Long story short, with about 12 beers down that chicken tasted better, but only a little.

Pretty good stuff. There’s another thread on it but southern chicks in BR and new roads is really good.

Rascals Truck Stop Restaurant in Duson LA, Thursday is fried chicken buffet day. Get there early or else you'll be waiting for a table.

There was a Frankie and Johnny’s in Denham Springs around 1974. Any chance this is the same folks? That was by far the best chicken I’ve ever tasted.
