Have a friend driving from FL to Houston to start treatment

He asked for some good restaurants in La along the way that they could stop at

Was gonna tell him that Parrains is always a good option, and would recommend a Best Stop or Billy’s stop on the way back

Was hoping to give him some past BR to the Texas line

Coming to you FB for some options

I know it's old and not trendy, but Pat's Fisherman's Wharf is a solid representation of the regional seafood favorites. Bring your wallet. It's also fairly easy to get to from I-10.

In Breaux Bridge, Poche's and Charlie T's are good plate lunch/specialty meat type places that are easily accessible from the interstate.

In Scott, there's all the boudin places like Best Stop, Don's, Billy's, and Kartchner's.

This one by far, if you finish a plate lunch, you might not make it to the Tx line. You'll need a nap.

Right off I-10 in Scott is Fezzos, good place for lunch and grab your boudin and cracklings afterwards (though I’m more of a Kartchners fan).

I'm gonna throw i Prejeans into the mix. Easy to get to. New ownership has been good.

Yes, and I think it recently reopened after the damage in the storm.

Are they specifically looking for Cajun/creole restaurants or simply restaurants that are relatively easy on/off from the interstate?

I would make the 3 minute drive into Scott and hit Uncle T's. Fezzo's is going down hill IMO.

Is D.I.'s still open? Is that too far off the interstate?

Won't meet the "past BR" criteria in the OP, but maybe on the rebound some Northshore recs:

If Slidell arrives at lunch (all about 5 minutes off the I-10/I-12 corridor)
Southside Cafe
Kenney's for po-boys
Peck's
Palmettos

Morton's in Madisonville ('bout 10 minutes off I-12 but nice setting on the Tchefuncte River).

I'll defer to others for Mandeville/Covington options for they are legion.

ETA: pray all goes well for your friend. If a long-term stay is needed, can consider The Ballard House in Katy.
