I was pretty disappointed when I went. I understand the whole concept of tapas, but I didn't care for the fact that I spent $90 and left the place hungry. I'm fine with spending $100 on dinner, but I damn well better be full when I leave. The food was good, not great. But damn, everything was so small. I have no plans to go back.

Varnedoe's new menu debuted last night. Now is the time to go check out IPO again.
And to settle the debate, IPO is definitely meant to be the stock market term in order to reflect a downtown business climate and because it is underneath The Office bar which has the same owners. Not saying it is a good name, but that is what it means.

Is the new menu reflected online? I'm not familiar with their old menu, so I would have no way of knowing.

Of freaking course. Went last week thinking it would be out and it wasn't.

Went Friday with the fiance and my parents.
The new menu debuted that night they were telling us. It was definitely different as I've been there and know what it was.
That awesome bruscheta app was gone but the deviled eggs and badass strawberry salad (with bleu cheese and candied pecans) is still there so a bit sad but happy to see some remain.
I had the mushroom and duck crepe for starters. Vibrantly tasty. Had the duck for entree and it was very nice. Gouda cheese grits that were nice but could've been more. Fiance loved her portion with her steak (which was cooked as she wished and was tasty but not best steak ever!!!1!).
Parents had egg roll for starters that we all shared. It was different and a very nice mix of spicy and sweet.
Dad had the bon temps shrimp and said it was delicious. Mom had the salmon and said it was delicious. I'm taking their word for it because they normally share but they devoured it.
All in all, a very good dining experience. Maybe it was just because it was Friday and the first night of the new menu or maybe it's a sign of things to come. I will definitely be back.
As some background, my family makes a habit of dining at Cotton in Monroe or good spots here and when traveling so we're no fans of Chilis or Olive Garden.
Also, my parents are pretty old and think the name IPO is just fine. In fact they think it's clever so sorry pissy old dude upthread, you're just a grumpy mcgrumperson.

The name "Restaurant IPO" is NF.
Glad you enjoyed it.

I went a few months ago and it was sodium overload. In particular, the shrimp and grits.

Jesus, people here talk about IPO like it's Boutin's or something.

I've never gotten that from here
I have always liked what I've gotten from IPO, but it was in desperate need of a new menu.. and honestly, I think the menu needs to be ever-changing. When you are a place that specializes in tapas, customers taste more menu items in a single visit than they would if you only had large plates. After 3-4 visits to IPO, I had the entire tapas/salad/soup menu.. many items more than once. Last time, we both got entrees simply because we didn't want the same stuff we already had before.
I know that there are plenty of restaurants who never change their menu, but it doesn't seem to fit with this type of place NOT to. Seasonal specials (more than 1) should be a given when you're working with small portions and people ordering several items per visit.

Small plate restaurants should never hire lazy chefs

I just looked through it and half the posts are people criticizing it to some degree or ripping on it. I felt like I was in the minority of people who actually liked it.

I've been twice. Wasn't excited to go back. I like varnadoe so I'll try it again. I went with large groups both times and tried most of the menu and wasn't real impressed, so looking forward to some changes.

I think the stuffed chorizo portabello is OUTSTANDING, but I didn't see that it was going to be on the new menu.
