I made mine yesterday. It's got nothing on some of the things y'all come up with, but it was delicious, and unfortunately we don't have leftovers.

Wow I never thought picking ingredient would cause this much of a fuss
But being the challenge winner I picked bacon with the understanding that pork belly is bacon and would be allowed as discussed in the last challenge thread
if needed Darla please change the ingredient to “bacon/pork belly” challenge if that can the help clear this up and get people to realize this is just a friendly competition and for fun,
But my meal is cooked and it’s poke belly…

I have no complaints about this challenge. It’s something y’all do for fun and that’s fine by me.

But you said you picked bacon with the understanding that pork belly is bacon. That’s the point I’ve been making (not for the challenge, but for the education of the board in every other post)…they are 2 different items. Bacon is made from pork belly. But pork belly isn’t bacon. Just like ketchup is made from tomatoes. But a tomato isn’t ketchup.

As far as what you allow in the challenge, I don’t care at all. This is your thing, have fun. I’ve never said anything about any challenge. Other posters came to this thread and started putting me down and making fun of me, which is why I responded. I was called names and laughed at because I explained that pork belly and bacon are 2 separate items.

I would suggest everyone in this thread knows raw pork belly is not considered bacon until it’s cured so it was unnecessary to point it out. Since the source of bacon is pork belly it makes sense to use the source in the dish.

And I did say if poke belly’s not allowed I’d change it to said ingredient

If you still haven’t made a bacon dish for this challenge, don’t forget that entries will be accepted from tomorrow morning when the submission thread opens, until Wednesday morning, 8:55 a.m.-ish.
