I enjoy the cheesy biscuits and the coconut shrimp with coconut rum dip fwiw. Also, if dine out at all (bottom of barrel to top notch places) you've eaten WAY more frozen shrimp than you would even guess. EVERYONE uses them. I know, because I've owned several seafood restaurants in Louisiana.

For the record our server was great and very helpful. The Staff Manager came by our table to greet us and also made sure we received our meal timely. Yes the food wasn't spectacular local cuisine BUT for a all you can eat shrimp deal it was pretty decent.

Where do you eat? Seriously, I doubt that Per Se, Commander's, Spago, Daniel or Gautreau's serve frozen shrimp

Every restaurant uses IQF shrimp. It's part of the business. But if you've never worked in that business than I guess you wouldn't know.

Trust me, you cannot tell the difference between something bought straight off the boat and a IQF shrimp.

I highly doubt any of the restuarants I listed use such a product. I would as a consumer, but the standards those restuarants use I would highly doubt it.

Ask yourself if shrimp is on the menu when its not shrimp season, and you'll have your answer.

You can get fresh shrimp pretty much 12 months a year in South Louisiana.

Although, I'm not disputing some places do so, there should really be no excuse for a restaurant in this area to ever serve frozen shrimp.

Yeah you can, most times the IQF will be much better, unless you got them off the boat within 48 hours after catch

I'm sorry, but if you live anywhere along the coast and you eat at Red Lobster or Joe's Crab shack...you need to be shot!

Have not been since I was in third grade and don't want to go back, but anybody who eats at a resturant and thinks they are not eating previously frozen shrimp is crazy (very few exceptions)

I worked at more than one seafood restaurant/market in South La.
QUITE often what is sold as "fresh" is thawed from IQF or other.
We sold sheephead as "red snapper" in one restaurant. Nobody knew the difference when it was fried and covered with crabmeat etouffe.

I've gone there and eaten the salad and soup all you can eat lunch. For what your getting it isn't terrible. But as I told my waitress one of the times when I had a problem "I expect this, Red Lobster is the McDonalds of seafood".

$15 for all you can eat of anything isn't too bad.

I like the places that think they're fooling you by calling it "bay snapper". I do think it's an underrated fish, though. Frank Brightsen often has it on the menu and unabashedly calls it sheepshead.

I hear all you naysayers. I'm not telling you that the Red Lob was outstanding but I will tell you that the all you can eat shrimp was better than anything I've ever had from Mortons Seafood in Madisonville.

Maybe this is why your statement is in the past tense.
