I know you guys are all on Atkins where you cut out the carbs, but when dieting are carbs or calories more important? I'm a few days into my diet and already dropped a few pounds. I severely reduced my carb intake and caloric intake, but I was just curious about which is more important.

Depends on the diet you choose. If you choose Atkins, definitely carbs are way more to watch for. Induction allows 20g of carbs per day and recommends around 2000 calories.

BOTH.
after you go off atkins however, calories will be king. just get used to watching them.
most people gain weight simply because they're lazy and don't realize how many calories they're consuming.
knowing how many you're consuming makes all the difference in teh world..at least you're not lying to yourself..if you eat more than 2500 a day, you're probably going to maintain state or gain slightly.
get used to 1500-2000 a day.

Not moving quite as fast as some, but the weight is coming off, which is all that matters. Hard to pinpoint a start date because I bounced around and "dieted" for several weeks before I really committed.
Anybody remember what page the calorie burning formula was on? I should have copied it then, but for some reason didn't and now I'm curious.
FYI- this thread has almost doubled in size since the new year (51pgs on Jan 1, now almost 100)

Well, I was planning to start the diet on Monday, but got a stomach virus instead.
For the last couple of days, I've eaten what my body would allow me to eat.
I'm now calling today my official start date. I decided to kick it off with Atkins, which seems popular on this board. I may switch it up after a couple of months.
On a positive note, usually these circumstances would give me the excuse to wait until next Monday to get started. Instead, I am motivated to get started asap.
265/NA/190 starting today.

I'm not going to be on for a couple of days. I've regained my head so I can explain rationally.. But my mother passed away this morning. Good luck to all of you and I'm going to do my best to not break this diet.. but as for right now not much of anything matters to me.
