It's a very unique keto diet.. very strict
I don't know all the science behind ketosis, but apparently, it works for some.
IFBB Pro Tony Freeman did that diet for a few years

That website may have tons of useful info for bodybuilding, but frick they really need to hire a new web designer. What an eyesore.

A gain of 3lbs is not bad as expected with my trip to San Diego by eating alot of carbs and drinking.
Hopefully I can get to 230 by April 1st.
Easter will be the road block.

Good point with the Masai tribe, there are several tribes that do well on zero carb as well. Zero carb as in, no plants and all their intake coming from animals. Brains, guts, fats, muscles, eggs ect.

As far as carb cycling goes, I don't see it as needed. "Needed" being defined as, I cannot get stronger without. I'm getting stronger without carbs, but is it easier? I don't know. I liked the recent Ben Greenfield podcast about bread. His guest, Max Lugavere, described that he likes to think of carbs as "performance enhancing drugs" in that they aren't needed, but may help.

My goal is putting on 10 or so pounds for strength, not to "look bigger" for show. I'm a skinny bastard and could use the muscle for latter life's troubles. I've gotten into lifting for health. I don't need to get results right away. So, my question to myself is, Do I need this to perform the way I want? Answer = no.

Thanks. I'll take a look. Our goals are obviously different. But Jesus, why would one want to be that "swole"? To pummel me? I'll run away!

Nah, No apologies necessary
I am not a nutritionist
There is a lot I don't know and a lot I still have to learn about nutrition
I like to read and hear about all the insight you guys have.
I work mainly with competitors and do competitive diets, so standard diets are complex to me
I think it's awesome to see more people learning and teaching about it

How do you isolate the Gastrocnemius?

Besides slow negatives and pausing at the top. What move? My shite looks disproportionate.

I use the greens, strawberry whey, about 12 blueberries, one dose of creatine, 16 oz of water, blend, then chill for an hour.

Not sure what chilling for that hour does, but it makes it a lot better. Even if you're using cold water, it's better when it's been chilled for an hour.

Any of y'all in Baton Rouge ? If so where do you buy your groceries from? Places like the produce store on Perkins or do you just hit up Walmart?

We get bulk broccoli and cauliflower at Costco, sometimes may too. Meat typically comes from Leblanc's Frais Marche reduced section

Trader Joe's staples are:
Cruciferous Crunch veggies mix
Healthy 8 veggies mix
Shishito peppers
Some variety of cheese

Last night's dinner:

Bone-in thigh for $0.99/lb at Costco, so this was a nice $1-2 dinner.

Recipe: "Cracklin Chicken"
