Why such a drastic cut in calories? 1200 calories for someone that weighs 276 pds?
1200 is the minimum. 2000 maximum. I set 1200 as a baseline just to keep from starving myself.

was over 250 before lent started. Since ash wednesday I'm down to 235. Cut down to strict 1100-1400 calories a day, cut out most carbs, and i cook all my own meals. No fast food, nothing fried, and no butter or oil

Where did you come up with the 1100-1400 calories ? What happens when your body adapts to that amount of calories and your weight loss stalls? Do you cut calories further?

It's above starving my self and below maintaining weight. Averaging 11-1400 calories will drop me around 3-4 lbs a week. I cook all my own meals and make sure to eat each food group, so it isnt like i'm being unhealthy.

Defintley not. I'm a little over 6'2. Dropping below around 1200 for any extended period of time is unhealthy once i hit about 215/220.

I just do the calorie cut in the beginning to accelerate weight loss. After 6ish weeks, i ramp up cardio and bring the calories back up to normal. 1800-2000.

I was up above 250 in college. Then after graduation, I was down below 200 steadily for about 18 months before i went back to school 3 years ago. Law school shite all over my routines. I'm getting back into shape and healthy life. Problem is if i start running daily at my current weight it hurts my knees like crazy (fatass problems). So, I'll diet to drop my weight below 220, then ramp up the exorcize.

I am ready to get into the comfortable 250s! For yall who have lost a lot of weight, did you have stretch marks or loose skin? I'm noticing stretch marks in my gut. Is there something I can do? Will they go away, or am I F'd?

I haven't seen anything yet to be honest with regards to stretch marks or loose skin...but the area I expect the loose skin to occur still has a good bit of fat that I'm working off. In other words even when I got down to 208 I was skinny fat and didn't have that loose skin yet, but it also took me almost exactly a year to hit the century mark. I'm hoping that I lost things slow enough to not have to worry with it, and now I'm just focused on working out to tighten everything up.

I do cardio 5-6 days/week, usually 30-45 minutes/day, either elliptical or bike. I usually aim for between 400-600 calories burned per day. I do weights on Tuesdays and Fridays (in addition to cardio) - both arms and legs; nothing heavy-duty, just enough resistance to do some good.

I've been doing p90x3 for the last 7 weeks. Before that, I was doing strong lifts 5x5, but trying to lose weight on the scale (being number obsessed) doesn't mix well with a strength training program very well

True story. I really want to hit the 220 number, but I barely weigh myself any more. Lift heavy, and trust the mirror and the measuring tape over the scale. My weight hasn't changed in 3 months, and in that time, I've maintained a 15% calorie deficit, but started lifting heavy again, taking creatine and increased protein intake.

Started measuring myself every month. Unfortunately don't have data from early on in the process. Waist continues to shrink, pants getting baggy, scale just hovering between 226-230.

My biggest problem is I get bored with a routine quickly. I lost about 20 pounds doing p90x3 for about a month and a half may try to pick that up again

Always nice to see more people poking their heads in here, and the support from everyone involved is really great. Keep up the good work so far!

With that said though, < 1000 calories per day seems extremely low...for anyone. Is there a reason that calorie count is so low?

This is under a doctors supervision? Find a new doctor. This is extremely unhealthy.

Folks you do not have to starve yourself and do such dramatic cuts in calories to lose weight. I am currently in the 160's and am dieting at around 1800 calories with zero cardio. It is a marathon not a sprint.

I know you said you were being monitored and I'm not doubting the legitimacy of the plan at all. I think you'll find that most of us have never heard of a "Very Low Calorie Diet" like what you're describing.

UCLA VLCD Info There's a link to something I found after a quick google search on the subject.

No judgement here...more of a just making sure you are doing what you're supposed to do safely
