couple of good days in a row. Cals under 1400 and carbs under 60. Sodium in check and I'm recovered from the carbo-frenzy of the storm.

Care to share what are some typical meals you eat for breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks?
Hey sorry for not responding earlier about the paleo thing
I'll give you an idea of what I generally eat
Breakfast - Honestly I rarely eat breakfast because I'm usually not that hungry in the morning. Sometimes I'll have a mid morning snack of a banana and/or a handful of walnuts
Lunch - I like doing a spinach salad with baked or grilled chicken breast along with some avocado, tomatoes, walnuts, and an EVOO based salad dressing. I would say that I do this fairly often. When I go out for lunch I usually get a blackened shrimp salad.
Some of my more common dinner meals:
Grassfed ribeye with a side of asparagus. Cook to your liking obviously. I know it's not easy to find grassfed produce but they have a sprout's farmer's market here that usually has some small (about 8 oz) grassfed ribeyes
Baked Salmon with a vegetable side
One of my favorites lately is the butter lettuce tacos and wraps. Cook some pork, chicken, or beef, and chop it up with some spices and add some guacamole and wrap it up in these small butter lettuce leaves. Delicious. You an also try some Asian style wraps instead of tacos. I would say I do some form of lettuce wraps about once a week.
I also include things such as baked or smoked turkey into my routine. You just have to remember it's mostly lean meat and fresh produce.
I keep a few containers with walnuts, almonds, and pine nuts around the office to use with salads or as snacks. I keep a basket of fruit in the office and I usually have some berries in the refrigerator.
I'm not a fan of the recommendation to severely eliminate salt so I eat foods high in potassium to counterbalance that portion of the diet. Usually avocado and tomatoes

Your menu looks great, I do about the same thing except I'll usually have breakfast. I also like the leangains eating schedule of having all your calories in an 8 hr window. During the week while at work I'll usually eat my "dinner" at work around 4 o'clock. Maybe some protein and fresh veggie or sometimes just a few tablespoons of natural pnut butter.

Good menu
I keep it simple and easy and just George Foreman grill a lot of my food and whip up a side salad. Other things I like to do are some easy casseroles, like zucchini and squash beef casserole, or green bean casserole. You can make a quiche by whipping together eggs, heavy whipping cream, and mayo (I use the EVOO mayo from Kraft) and spreading that over whatever you want to be in the quiche (warning.. the quiche idea is very high in calories as it is high in fat.. so be careful!!). Once you get accustomed to taking out the grains from your diet, cooking without them comes next. It takes a good adjustment to cook without them as they are in EVERYTHING people normally eat. But once you get adjusted, you'll be able to cook whatever comes to mind. A lot of times I just cut up meat and throw it in a skillet and brown and season it and eat that with some other veggies.

I got on the scale this morning and I am down 4 pounds from where I started about 4 weeks ago. Even with the hurricane madness. I am trying to do the paleo thing as well. I do have a question about salad dressings though. I am buying Marzetti's simply dressed currently but I am curious if there is something better I could make besides just an olive oil vinegrette all the time. I prefer creamy dressings. I also have not given up cheese. I eat things like veggie omelets and grilled chicken breasts with peppers and onions or salad but I have to have a bit of cheese. The other day I did a big salad of spinach, a little fruit, sunflower seeds and a small amount of goat cheese. The goat cheese gave me the creamy texture so I used no dressing then. Last night I seasoned ground beef with mexican spices and put salsa on my salad but I still put a bit of cheddar on there. Cheese is my weakness. I love it.

Honestly my go-to is Caesar or ranch and I still eat cheese and use heavy craem in recipes.. It's not technically paleo, but I've never been 100% convinced in everything the paleo diet hypes.. to me the carb and calorie intake is most important vs eating grass-fed or all-natural stuff. Of course, if I could afford those things I would get them, but $$$$$$$$$$$
Eta
oh and once in a while i still have hummus.

Awesome! Sounds like the cheese isn't an issue for you, I like it but just keep it in your calorie count. In regards to salad dressing I usually make vinagrettes with EVOO. I'm sure there is a buttermilk or sourcream, mayo type ranch you could make at home.Like Hulkk said the olive oil mayo is good, maybe seasoned with Mrs Dash or fresh herbs. I avoid store bought because most of it is loaded with the high fructose corn syrup, plus fresh made just tastes better.

If you're still doing dairy you're essentially on the wheat belly diet and not the paleo diet

never heard of the wheat belly diet. I don't do much dairy, just some cheese, and a little heavy cream if a recipe calls for it. Oh and creamer in my coffee.
I don't really subscribe myself to a single diet, I tell people paleo just because it's easiest to explain. But I watch carb and calorie intake and limit carbs to about 75g max.

I read the book before the paleo diet sometime last year
The guy essentially just tells you to remove all wheat from your diet
He gets into more specific diet recommendations beyond just eliminating wheat but it's fairly similar to the paleo diet.
Nuts, healthy oils, vegetables, proteins, avoid cured meats...the only main difference is that he includes dairy as part of things that you should eat with the preference going to whole milk and hard cheeses.

I buy the refrigerated ones that have no high fructose corn syrup (It is a simply natural type brand). I may look into something with buttermilk in at and see if I can find a recipe. Thanks guys.
eta: I use soy creamer and soy milk hulk but I know people have different opinions of soy. I just prefer the taste to regular.

Almond milk is pretty good. I prefer coconut milk

Hubs hates coconut and would freak if I put the milk in his food even if he could not taste it. I find almond milk too thick.

I find almond milk is pretty thin
I like it because it's a little sweet tasting. I think most people flavor it with a hint of maple.
I'm not a fan of the plain unsweetened kind by itself.
I can't motivate myself to workout tonight. Should have never bought this new laptop

should have got a Macbook Pro like me. It can do everything that your Chromebook does and was only $1700 more.

Just say no to faux milk. H20 is "all you need". Once you go "no cow" why choose the bean/nut fake milk? Just curious.

Ok ladies and gents. I'm posting in this thread for the first time.
I need support here.
Heaviest I've ever been and it's upsetting me. I don't think we need to talk about my weight, but I'll say I am looking to loose 25-30 pounds. I have little time for the gym or runs/cycling anymore beside for the weekends.
Do I need a diet or what? What diet? Completely cut carbs? Only eat chicken and fish?
I'm lost here.
I'll answer whatever y'all ask.
Thanks.
