I've been really sucking lately lol. Basically it's partially laziness and partially stress. I'll be much better after Sunday. Hopefully able to focus on the diet for a little while before I leave for vacation next Friday.

Pigged out on free jambalaya yesterday. Today I had free spaghetti. I think that's the last of free food from work, though. They gave anyone who worked during Isaac or in the cleanup effort of Isaac free lunch.

Hulkster, how are you liking the Paleo lifestyle? After doing some research on, it looks like something I'd be really into.

It's great. I love the food options, excluding hummus. I eat hummus still... I just can't do without it . But I really enjoy being able to have an apple, or an orange, or cherries, etc.

FWIW I've been doing the paleo thing as well

I have enjoyed it and have been getting some results

It forces you to make most of your food yourself which is half the battle. I rarely go out to eat now.

Good for my waistline and good for my wallet. I feel great as well.

Care to share what are some typical meals you eat for breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks?

I've been on it for so long that I don't really break down my meals by breakfast/lunch/dinner anymore. When I'm hungry, I eat. I decide at that point whether it's time for a meal or just a snack. Of course in the morning there's usually a meal.. I used to do a lot of eggs and bacon but I got burnt out on that, so now I just kind of throw shite together. Eat whatever I have, it really doesn't matter. The whole "bacon and eggs" for breakfast instead of a chicken breast is entirely a mental thing. For snacks I usually eat almonds, sunflower seeds, pork rinds, celery, broccoli, fruits, etc.

That place is great for low carb recipes, but I have this problem where if the food I cook is really good, I overeat So I try to keep it simple most of the time.

Power, I've noticed you pimping the paleo lifestyle in a few threads before.. It's good to not be the only voice of reason amongst the crowd of silly people that make up this site

It seems like a good concept and an easy lifestyle to follow. Do you work in exercise with your diet? Do you have a cheat day once a week?

Yes I do work out; Lift heavy once per week. If you do it right, you will only need 1 set of 5 compound exercises to get a proper workout, and you have to give your body ample time to recover. You give the stimulus for muscle grown by making your body think it faced some sort of life or death situation in which you had to lift something. Then you have to get out the way, so to speak, to let your body generate the proper response. Once a week, lift very heavy, 5-7 rep max, 5 seconds up, 5 seconds down. One lower body compound lift (squats, deadlifts), one horizontal pushing compound lift (some sort of press), one horizontal pulling lift (rows), one verticle press (military shoulder press), one verticle pull (pull ups, lat pulldown) General cardio in between workouts.

As far as cheating, I try to stick with the 80/20 rule. 80% of the time I'm paleo, 20% I cheat.. usually that translates to once a week or so, yeah.

The paleo diet is a simple and easy concept, and it's got the science to back it up.

At about the 1 hour mark he goes into it, the science of the diet. Prior to is why that style of working out works.. I am going to be getting Doug McGuff's book soon.

I realized I was going to take a break from my diet this weekend. I had reached all of my goals so far. Was even 5 pounds ahead.

But Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, how in the ratphuck do you gain 10 pounds in 48 hours?

Must be the salt. Yeah, that's it. The salt.
