Have you ever started out doing Atkins?

No I have not. I have reduced my intake of carbs. I do not know what they where at, but I ate a lot of bread and rice with my meals before changing my diet. I eat less that 1,600 cals/day and either run or lift weights with at least one day of rest a week.

Down a pound today. 1300 calories a day and just eating much better calories than before. Walk, run, bike, or lift weights 3-4 times a week.

Hey guys, long-time lurker here with a quick question for you Atkins gurus.

I've just started Atkins last week and my Mom is doing the plan with me. We are strictly behaving, no cheating. My pre-Atkins carbs used to come from fruits, some pasta whereas my Mom would eat any carb not nailed down.

So far in a week I've lost 5 lbs and she's lost nearly 10. Why is that? Does it have anything to do with what type of carbs we used to eat pre-Atkins?

Please speak slowly when you explain, I'm blonde.

There could be a multitude of reasons; everyone loses at different rates in a heavy ketosis. Those with insulin resistance and a low metabolic resistance will lose a LOT. And, not trying to be rude but it's just a possibility, if your mom ate as many carbs as you make it sound, it's very possible she was insulin resistant or well on her way and her body is rejoicing in not having to process those carbs all of the time. Since you did not go nuts on carbs all of the time, it's likely you have a higher metabolic resistance and lose less.. just a natural occurrence. Dr. Atkins goes into detail in his 2002 DANDR book. If you are doing Atkins and haven't read the book, I highly recommend doing so Good luck on the journey!

The Weekend Report with Lloyd Braun

279.8/243.2/175

Down 1.8 this week. Hopefully the trend continues - no big plans this weekend (except studying ). Also, I started some cardio again - I scanned my card at the gym today and it had been 113 days since I was there!!

down trend stopped just before a new low

I had some Albasha yesterday. Combo salad.. I didn't go over my calorie limit, but I'm sure that food is loaded with salt.

It took all week, but I finally worked off Father's Day. No big cheats planned this weekend or next week, so I should be in business for now.

I ate like the world was ending last week and got up to 178.8 but I am back to 174.6 this morning.

I need to get back to my roots which is STICKING to a carb limit. If I start eating too many carbs, the damn wheels come off and I become a nom nom nom pac man monster.

Famous last words.... Somebody showed up to our house with pizza yesterday

I know I didn't eat 2.5 lbs of it, but it was pretty upsetting on the scale this morning. I'm cooking dinner tonight so I may CADfast today as my penance for yesterday.

Yup. Lately whenever I proclaim a new beginning, I end up with empty pints of ice cream in the trash.

Same here. After drinking beer all day at the pool, I dove head first into the pizza.

Just had Father's Day for my dad a week late.

I loaded up on eggs with sausage and onions with mushrooms. Ate a ton but I stayed away from the hash browns and biscuits. Partial victory.

I have been eating shitty food all weekend and today is my wife's birthday. Cooking a lot of meat today which is better than the chimes club I ate last night. Haven't had a chance to go to the gym because of unplanned work this weekend. No good news at all, but Monday starts a new week and the final push to 205 before I hit the beach in 4 weeks.

Well I've been gone from TD for like a week and a half. Just a self imposed break from social media and what not to unplug myself and focus on other things. It's been a GREAT week.

I got kind of depressed during the week before and the weekend of father's day because I felt like I was falling off the wagon and I was falling back into my old habits. So I decided to just go all in on the diet and exercise. I woke up Monday and weighed 274 pounds. Today I was 264 pounds. And honestly that's a dissapointment because I was 258 Saturday morning before I just went insane. The weekends have become a giant pit for me when I sit at home for any length of time.

During the week though I was perfect, didn't cheat, stayed under my calories and exercised faithfully. I am through with week four of C25K and will start week five today. I've started riding the bicycle on my non running days to cross train. I think I made it about four and a half miles yesterday on the bike which was the most I've done so far (I have a lot of hills in my neighborhood). So I'm happy with things, they could be better, but I'm pretty sure it's mostly water weight since I only ate real bad Saturday and that wasn't that bad.

ETA - Oh and those of you who don't like black coffee suck. I find it to be like a nice IPA, bitter, perhaps even unpleasant at first, but once you get used to it you love it. I can stand cream sometimes but I can't stomach sugar in my coffee anymore.
