I would think that you weren't eating enough and your body went into starvation mode.

That's roughly 600 calories a day (and I'm rounding up)

At 275 your body needs a lot more than that even if you must laid in bed the entire day without moving.

When you do something that drastic after a few days your body is going to figure out what's going on and it's going to try to conserve as much fat as possible.

When you do stupid shite, you get stupid results.

Myth that's great, only 7 more to go.

I've been stuck at 8 more to go for weeks now. Maybe I need an f'ing Walmart bike, too.

If it's possible go for a swim

Swimming burns a ton of calories

And it's fun too

255/229/195 3.1.11

I FINALLY lost another pound! I was stuck on 230 for 12 straight days while still eating mostly lean meat, fruits, and vegetables with just a little whole wheat/grain bread once in a while. This was huge because I have not been below 230 in over 5 years.

I have the morning off, so I'm off for another bike ride.

Thanks for the encouragement and the advice, guys. Lots of good stuff in this thread.

Finally had a second..here's my chart.

benchwarmer, i just copy/paste the chart as a pic and upload it to tinypic.

you can see the 'median' line and how my weight loss has varied both above and below it but overall, its been consistently at or below it.

you can see that HUGE stall from oct to jan as well..but i just stayed the course and eventually it turned around.

ETA here are some other stats as well:

see? you can still get fit and sometimes stall or lose ZERO WEIGHT FOR A MONTH and if you're being consistent (and honest with yourself) it will still pay off over the long term.

i'm not 'pushing it'..rather letting the process take care of the weight although i'm getting really antsy to get this last 20 or so off.

CAD, when you went from about 212 to 220, what happened? How did that affect you? Did it motivate you (obviously, because you are back down), or did you start to go backwards. I expect that I'll see some gain from time to time as I keep going and I'm wondering how I'll deal with it.

Thanks for that chart. That is helpful and a good reminder that this is a long-term process and there aren't any shortcuts. It took me years to get to 255. I should expect to get back below 200 in 4 weeks.

He is a serious biker so he has probably packed tons of muscle on. Plus that stall period for him was during the end of the year festivities.

Heck, I put on 10 pounds twice from Christmas to January 4th. Did great over T-Giving but not so great with New Years and Christmas.

I think it's important that people see this and don't get down if they're in a slump. Eventually if you stay the course the results will come.

weather turned bad here..had to hang the bike up for a couple of months.

a few bad drinking/eating weekends with friends

home to visit family at end of december for week & 1/2..and the bottom fell out..i just gave in and ate like a pig all week.

sure it was definitely demotivating..but i knew *HOW* to get back on track..so i just refocused on exercise..did a couple of 'mini fasts' to shock my body into weight-loss mode again..and got back on the bike determined i was going to be in shape by racing season.

YOU GOT IT!!! I knew what needed to be done..i could look at the chart and see what I had done the prior 9 months and knew the only person holding me back was ME..and i didn't want to give up on what had already been accomplished.

point being..YOU WILL GET THERE in a year..maybe 2 (for me it looks like it will be close to 2)..but thats fine..i've adjusted my eating patterns over the LONG HAUL. i didnt lose 60lbs in a month then gain 75lbs over the next 2 months. this takes time, discipline and common sense.

having that chart to refer to helped me probably more than anything..on the bad days i could see how far i had come and pushed myself.

Looks like you've been losing at a healthy pace as well. Good job. People get too obsessed with wanting really quick results. First week for me was really quick but I know now it's going to be time for the slow and steady progression.

It's been a while since I used excel. How do you add the trend line to the chart again?

yeah my loss weekly average isn't going to make next week's episode of 'biggest loser' anytime soon

as for the chart, right click your chart (after you've set it to use your daily weigh in #s as data) and say "add trendline". its pretty simple.

6 week update

304/286/274

i lost 1 pound for the week. I think it was the fried fish i had friday night. I was at a camp and they had fish/FF/hus puppies. I partook only in the fried fish, but ate mor ethan i should. im happy with the 1 lb loss, thought i would be the same.
I dont expect next week to be any different. I gave up all alcohol for lent, and allthough i only drink usually on friday and saturdays, this friday i have a crawfish boil and will pound some beer at the boil. I have decided i will work out 5 days a week starting next week instead of 3-4 though to combat it a little.

If you can enjoy a good fish fry and still lose a pound, I'd call it a win-win.
