I was in the same range and not much was happening. Took Myth's advice and have been consistently between 1200-1500 and it helped break through. I thought I would starve but without the carb rushes, it never bothered me.
tracking sodium also really helps. patience is a virtue.

btw this is my first foray in the 150's in over a year.

Thanks. Starting today, I'm cutting back even more. Even with eating healthy, it all adds up. The first couple of weeks when I lost 20 pounds was awesome and motivating. The last 2 weeks have been very frustrating. This is why I always quit - but not this time.

6'1 inches tall
240/235.8/199 start date 04/04/11

I lift weights but I'm going to go for lbs loss.

I'm on South Beach or Paleo Diet.

I don't think there is much difference anyway than Atkins.

I have read this post for awhile but finally got motivated to stick to this diet.
Class reunions are always a plus.

4 week weigh in

265/248/190 3/9/11

Weighed 247 on Saturday and thought I had a good chance to hit 245 by today for a nice, even 20 lbs lost. Instead, I gained a pound.

Still pleased overall.

Well, I'm almost back to my low weight. I think it was about 195.6 or so.

Was doing my 12 mile ride yesterday and had a flat at about the 9 mile mark. Thought about walking the final 3 but my legs said no, so I had to call for help. 2nd time in 4 weeks that I've been stranded on the levee. Who knew weight loss could be so aggravating.

My dad and stepmom are coming to BR tomorrow, they want to take me out to eat dinner. They know my diet so they want me to pick a place.. But I haven't the slightest clue. Anyone know of any good places in BR where I can eat and not cheat? Obviously if there's a hamburger I can take the buns off or if I can find a steak or grilled chicken or something like that, but I'm just looking for ideas.

most places have to offer a grilled chicken breast and some sort of side salad or veggie....

right...?

good luck...dieting and dining out can be difficult...so many temptations.....

Any steak joint. Be wary of sugary sauces if you get chicken at most places. Stick with salad dressings like blue cheese or vinaigrette.

You can find nutritional data for tons of restaurants on their websites and other websites.

I eat out at least 50% of my meals. Anyone who says you can't successfully follow a diet while eating out is wrong. Sure it is more difficult, but it can be done.

It can be done but when other people are ordering decadent dinners and other tables are receiving piles of evil food, it is very hard to resist the urge to go cookie monster on the worst thing on the menu.

Doable, but it can be rough. I am not good at diners out.

It is tough. We had a big family gathering Sunday at Galatoirres. I had the trout blackened, cauliflower and blue cheese salad. It was very very tempting with everyone around me mowing down the fresh bread and awesome looking deserts!

Week 4 update: 304/290/274 It was a little over 3 lb drop from last week, but considering the Sunday meal i was pleased. I have also started jogging for 20 minutes this week and will go 4 times this week as opposed to the one time the past 3 weeks. We will see if it makes a difference next Wed.

My Dad postponed the restaurant outing til the 27th.. So that's not for a while. BUT Sunday I'm going to a crawfish boil, so I am fully expecting to hold lots of water weight Monday and gain.. WORTH IT!

Crawfish boils get an automatic exemption from diets. They don't have many calories anyway just tons of sodium but it will come off.

Just stay away from the corn and potatoes and garlic and corn. :P
