seeded Italian loaf is an underrated poorboy bread

R.O.'s, of which I am not fond.

As for $20 poorboys, most 12" oyster poorboys are pushing $20 or higher.

Poorboy prices do seem to have gone up significantly in the last decade as they've become a popular food for visitors. I remember $5 roastbeefs 12 inchers not long ago. I remember 6 inch shrimps for 3-4 dollars even after Katrina. But lately, you can't get much of anything except potato for under $10. Look at Mahony's, for instance. They have 5 poorboys over $20. And a footlong roast beef is $14.

I'm not going to say high poorboy prices are always bad. To do so would be to suppress the poorboy as a dish that has no room for improvement or quality. Higher quality ingredients, by nature, cost more.

Yeah, I think they heat up the bread in a lot of theirs, don't they? I don't like that.

They do. A proper poorboy bread should be served at room temperature. The heat should come from the meat/seafood filling.

The other shame is calling something less than 12 inches a poorboy/poboy.

All food has gone up significantly over the last 10 years, especially beef, fish, and chocolate. It seemed like all of those things doubled in price from 2007 to 2009 and never really came back down.

Upon what factual basis did you make that observation?

How do you feel about all these white hipster transplants moving in and changing our food culture?

It would be a damn shame if we lose our poboys to $12 bologna sandwiches.

Do poorboys have to be a certain length? 6 inches means it's not a poorboy? What is your reasoning behind that?

Historically speaking, the first poorboys were 15" and 20".

As for fighting, I would not physically win a fight because I would not strike another person. I would win only by not entering a physical altercation.

I have no respect for outlanders and those who eat bologna sandwiches.

Now that you live down here you need to accept some idiosyncrasies and that is one of them.
