Nagoya closed within the last year as well. It's disappointing we are losing the restaurants as Jones Creek/Coursey area have almost everything in a small area. Will never say Outback was the greatest steaks, but our kids ate the steaks there.
We've lived jones creek area for 5 years now and went to portobellos maybe once. One of those places we never thought about to go eat and was never impressed with the food. We prefer.bisto Italia and where happy when they moved closer.
We definitely have hit City Cafe and Jasmines more often than any of the other restaurants around us.

Forgot about the Japanese restaurant. You're correct. Even the snowball stand in the Hi Nabor lot is leaving the area. This area is so heavily populated the closing of restaurants is disturbing.

I have no idea what the deal really is, but my first thought was that a lot of people on that side of town are more willing to drive to the other side of town to eat. The reverse isn't really the case.
So, these spots are mostly just serving people who work and live close, whereas the other side of town gets people from all over willing to make the drive.

True. And so far from any tourism, LSU pregame traffic, and downtown conventions. I have to think these properties will reinvent themselves at some point.

Shenandoah Estates I believe is the largest subdivision in the BTR area. When the Chimes East was built, I told the manager then, it was too small.
I when into City Cafe for lunch today, it was after 1, there was only 1 seat at the bar. Inside was full, and a number of the patio tables were taken. Even had a group of 4 waiting for an inside table.
Jones Creek Cafe does ok, Dempsey’s does very well, but it’s not too big.
A friend of mine sent me a note and picture of his meal from Jasmine’s on the Bayou.

I don't live in the area anymore, but this was our go to for take out. What it lacks in atmosphere, it makes up for with the quality of the food. The Blue Store was a nice addition to the area as well. I've given up on that George's and if that's what I wanted we would drive to the Southside location. As far as Portabello's, I hadn't been in over a year. The quality of the food was not worth the price. We would go to Ruffinos or Dijulios if we wanted Italian.

It was there from 1996 to 2008. Pretty good run. I went there a lot from 2004-2006. It was still doing good business at the time. I was surprised when it closed.

I disliked the changes too, but for the opposite reason. They overhauled the menu to basically be Ruffino's when he parted ways with Ruffino's. Down to even the names of the dishes (Veal Michael was called Veal Michelle).
That was at the Bocage location, not the George O’Neal one

The problem with this site is that Velvet Cactus yore down the ole Chalet Brant building and built a building that is 50% outdoor seating in south Louisiana. So half of their seating is unusable 90% of the time. Horrible decision.

They dug their grave by offering an extra 50% on all gift cards. Last Christmas I spent $500 and received $750 in GC. Apparently they were strapped for cash, but that's an insane promotion.
