The Popeyes on Trans and W. Esplanade has stopped making fresh onion rings and now serve the pre-made frozen kind
Is this a chain thing or is it just a rogue store going the cheap route??

I don't know about hand sliced, but they were previously fresh battered and really good.
They've all gone the frozen route now, unfortunately.

Well I guess they previously had the beast pre-made rings on the planet. The ones they have now are AWFUL.

Still want to know if they charge extra since they are now cheep arse rings where as before they were of decent quality.

Well the one in P'ville used to hand batter them when I ordered them...same on Highland Road. However, in the last 2 years they have both gone to frozen rings. Ugh!

Shame - they were really good. Poboy Express has some rockin' ones that are similar to old Popeye's (as best I remember them - hadn't had them in years, but they were very good).

In the good old days, when Copeland still owned Popeye's, the biscuits were edible, the chicken was spicy and affordable and you always ordered your rings 1st. The person taking the order would yell "rings" and they would drop a batch in the fryer. They were always hot and fresh when the rest of your order was completed.
I think we had Reagan in the White House and the Socialists were not about to take over in a bloodless coup.

the chicken tasted old but the fries, biscuit, and rings were good. popeyes chicken has gone downhill.

this is a wide spread upsetting movement. I LOVED popeyes' batter before, now their onion rings suck. It was bad enough that none of the Popeyes in BR sells onion rings, but now the other ones that had onion rings now sell those crappy excuses for onion rings.
I remember when they started making those "squished" biscuits rather than the old rough ones.

The one on Highland sells them.
Well, at least they did. I haven't gotten them in the last couple of months.
