Place in NOLA open for Thanksgiving?

Won't be able to make it home for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner but will be visiting a friend in the Houma area. I figure nothing worth going to there will be open but obviously a ton of options in NOLA. Do most places stay open? Reservations recommended for anything good I would assume.

I would recommend looking on Open Table to see if there are times available. There are very good restaurants in NOLA that use OT for reservations and you may be able to find something.

Why do people ask this question less than a week before Thanksgiving? Every. Year.

Commander's gets last minute cancellations. That's where we'll be this year.

I have used opentable to make galatoires reservations for Thanksgiving before. I enjoyed their Thanksgiving menu.

This is the correct answer. Call 504.943.2200 to reserve a table. The food is great and you’ll probably see some New Orleans celebrities.

I think we're going to do Wed night instead just so we can do the regular menus
It's a bit overwhelming trying to decide on a place. Good problem to have though.

Cavan has a deboned irish whiskey brined Turkey. Go there.

Fairgrounds, man. Thanksgiving is the traditional opening day of the thoroughbred racing season.
Eat some food and gamble on the horses.

Did you call to see if Christianos or Melvins is open in Houma.

I hope Galatoire's is open. I am planning to go there before the Saints game.

Walked through the FQ today and saw signs for about half a dozen restaurants that will be open. Do a FQ bar crawl starting in the morning and pick one of them at which to eat.
