I should have asked this yesterday, so hopefully you'll come back and see this post, but I'm curious...what breweries did you go to in Boston that you thought sucked?

Well no shite. Wouldn't exactly consider that a local craft brewery. Whenever people are coming into town I always steer them away from that tourist trap.

shite, even Sam Adams and Harpoon are worth a visit... if there is enough time.

Harpoon, yes.
Sam Adams, no.
Just one man's opinion.

I did get the red carpet treatment at Sam Adams, so I might be a bit biased. Definitely didn't go back there the next time I was in Boston.

Trillium has the best beer I've ever tasted fwiw.

Maybe he didn't mean the entire brewery sucked, so I misquoted a bit. Again, I was genuinely curious what beers he had up here he didn't enjoy. Wasn't trying to be defensive about it or anything.

I've had beers that weren't my favorite from them, but 9/10 times their beers are amazing. It's definitely a regular spot we like to go to.

I think he means the ceiling is better but the floor is worse than NO breweries

If so, that's a fair statement that I can't refute due to my lack of knowledge of the NOLA beer scene. When I left craft breweries weren't nearly as prevalent there as they are today.
ETA: whoever my serial downvoter is, thank you. I've never had someone put that much thought or effort into my posts.

The wedding weekend will be a failure if you decide against renting the #NolaBrewBus
Take it from an expert Baw

Again, the only reason we aren't doing that is due to time constraints. I'm sure it's a damn good time. Will have to check it out on another trip home.

If he thinks that then he's also more than likely wrong. There are some NOLA breweries that put out some god awful shite. Zealot, being the beer expert that he is, has traveled to Boston, which is more than ANYONE else here has done, which is why we should absolutely accept his hot take as authoritative
I'll say it again -- Second Line has legitimately made some of the worst beers I've ever tasted. Bar none. Cease to Love, their barrel aged RIS with coconut, legitimately tasted like I licked an ashtray. It was disgusting, and that was not just my opinion but the consensus of the general public. I also think some of the fruited variants of Charming Wit are horrid. And Courtyard's sours are foul.
And as a general rule I back Courtyard even on the occasions when I think their beer is a little "off." But their sours are terrible.
I'm not saying Boston beer is without defect, but that shite is egregious. Sam Adams isn't releasing something like that. They are too quality focused. Everything is going to be perfectly drinkable, only drainpourable due to boredom, never off flavors. Neither is Trill or Night Shift. Maybe Aeronaut, I guess. But on my visit they were still better than Second Line.

Once again....I'll recommend Courtyard. Easily the best place to pop in for a beer. I was there Monday, they had Envie too.
I'll probably be there Friday as well. It seems as if any time I go to the city I start at courtyard.
BTW thanks again for the recs on Boston. Can't wait until June.

I've never been to Boston/Vermont (have a trip planned soon) but I've had a couple of bad brews around New Orleans. Ones I've failed to finish, I think New Orleans is still moving forward but as a drinker I expect to find something bad everywhere. I can't try everything at the same time and my pallet will change over time as well.
