I am not a big philly cheese steak fan but I did have an original on a trip to Philly. Has anyone tried the Philly Me Up on Jefferson in BRLA? The Gumbo philly looks legit.

I've had it a bunch of times. It's pretty solid.

used to be really good. Mgt turnover seems to have ruined the place. sandwiches used to be bigger. Service used to be better.

Yep. Hit or miss now. And they are just randomly closed for no reason.

Honestly, not a fan. Their steak kind tastes like ground beef to me. A lot of posters seem to like it, though.

I greatly prefer South of Philly, but they closed their location in EBR.

South of Philly was the kitties titties. I don't understand why more restaurants don't use fresh potatoes to make french fries. It makes a world of difference

I’ve had the regular phillys there. Excellent.

I ate their last Wednesday. Still just as good. Only the Sherwood location closed. The one in Prarieville is still open (it’s only like 5 miles from the Sherwood location).

The Cajun was always a favorite of mine. Sucks to hear it isn’t the same. I always thought it needed to be double the size because you were lucky to get a seat in there

We ate lunch there Friday before last. Been going for years and I've never noticed a change in quality. Wife had the Gumbo, I tasted her's and it was good. I got my usual, the Pepper Bomb. Had the onion rings to try something different and they were fair, but I'll stick with the fries next time.

Philly Me Up is not a bad alternative and I agree with most of the comments about South of Philly but both are good...just like Pat's and Geno's.

South of Philly on Sherwood used to be my Friday tradition quite often, was great then the quality dropped off . Stopped going and I guess the rest of BR did too.

It closed on Sherwood when it took the city 2 years to replace that stretch of street. Dude lost a ton of business and closed it down. The one in Gonzales is still very good.
