Is it really the best Cajun restaurant with award winning gumbo?

Never had their gumbo but the crawfish bisque used to be amazing.
I haven't been in many years so I have no idea if it is still so good, but it was DELICIOUS once upon a time.

Grandparents took some of our family from Brookhaven a couple of weeks ago. The left highly disappointed. Said it wasn't anywhere near what it used to be. Could have been an isolated incident.

Haven’t been in a few years.
I always enjoyed it though.

I agree. I haven't been in years either, but we'd go just because of the bisque and buy it frozen to take home. Soft shell crabs were good also.

Yes the gumbo is great. seafood for the win. the bisque is amazing as well. Great old school lake Charles restaurant.
Actually all of their food is good besides the char-grilled oysters. no offense

Not since the early to mid 80's probably.

Place is average at best, but they have a nice patio.

This is why I ask.
I drove across Louisiana today and there were at least 30 billboards on I-10 advertising for it.

Stick to the crawfish dishes (bisque, camp-style etouffee) and you’ll be ok. Problem is, the prices are outrageous for what you get. They were laughed out of town when they opened the BR location.

yes, very old school and quite expensive
it is good though. When we were kids it was a special event type meal

I've found that over the past 15 years the quality has gone down and the prices have gone up.
