Pat's in Henderson: no longer terrible, quite good

Pat's 30 years ago was a great restaurant. And then something went terribly wrong. For like 10 years.
I was conned into going the other night, and I am very happy to report that the food was quite good.
Crab cakes. Crawfish balls. All seafood. Everything was quite good.
And they even served a throwback pineapple salad.
We had many a family/celebratory meal there as a kid, and it always bugged me when the restaurant went downhill.
It's not fancy by any means, but everything we had was great.

Glad to hear - I almost stopped by there last week. Only thing is that their prices are pretty high. Camp style dishes and crawfish bisque are very good though

Owners are great people, and seafood is expensive everywhere. Great to support them and and nice little setting to enjoy a meal.

I remember the Baton Rouge location on Jefferson Highway and it was only around for maybe a couple of years.

Ate there this past Saturday for lunch. Everything was great except my son wasn't fond of the fried fish. I had the crawfish étouffée. They make a great crawfish bisque that I have had on other visits.

I really enjoyed my fried fish a couple weeks back. It’s thick and moist and flavorful. Could be wild caught given their location. If you like that thin cut stuff probably should order something else.

I agree. Ate there not long ago and enjoyed it. Also, I've been to Prejean's a few times over the last couple of years with ball teams and whatnot and it's been kinda impressive. Food and service. Touché old coonass staples.

Yep. We used to go a lot over the years due to some family connections. When James was in the kitchen, it was always outstanding. As we all know, when he left, it took a bit of a dive.
Have been a couple times when back in town the last couple of years and it’s been excellent. Glad to have it back.

Not sure when it changed hands. Last time we went was this past October. It was good. I remember the smoked duck gumbo being excellent.

Good to know. I haven't been in years, but pretty much always enjoyed it. I didn't vary a whole lot in my orders because I always had the crawfish bisque which was delicious. We usually bought some frozen home with us. I would love to take a ride there and load up on some more of it.
Years ago, Prejean's also had wonderful crawfish bisque. Suddenly it was watery with little flavor. That was some years ago. Does Prejean's still serve the bisque?

Myself and some friends ate at Pat's in Henderson last month. Food was good but not GREAT. Compatible menu prices like everywhere else these days. I ordered the stuffed flounder ($34.95) and was expecting a whole flounder like Brunings in West End (Lake Pontchartrain). Left disappointed as it was a flounder filet topped with seafood stuffing. 
Sadly, not sure anyone can duplicate Brunings stuffed flounder.
If dining in or near Breaux Bridge, the best restaurant by far is Cafe Sydnie Mae. Fri/Sat nights they have a 2 man jazz band playing smooth jazz that's very relaxing. The boneless pork chop is 2" thick, brined for 48 hrs., and the cooked sous vide for 4 hours. Cuts with a fork and incredible topped with lumb crab meat.

1 in lake charles just reopened not long ago, very good and very nice. one of my favorites in town for sure.
If you are traveling through, its not far off I-10 on 2-10. easy on and off right on the east end of the loop where it hits i-10.
