I don't understand this.

Good beer is more available and accessible now than ever before. Why do people want that to change?

Because it seems like the only beer being produced now is a cloudy, hazy IPA. Most of the more well-known breweries in my town are honing in on it. One brewery, arguably the most popular, pretty much only produces that style. It's a shame too, because their other stuff, the very little they brew, is pretty damn solid.

While I enjoy them, I still prefer a piney West Coast IPA. I'd love for some of these good breweries to try a saison, farmhouse ale, gose, table beer, something different at least.

It's not the beer I have a problem with. It's the attitude surrounding the style. The #hazebro is a real person. It's like it's the defining style of what makes a brewery good or not. frick all that. It might not be easy to make a really good NEIPA, but it's not hard if you have access to good hops, and it's not the only style of beer out there.

Care to fill me in on the "#hazebro" persona? That's pretty funny and I want to keep an eye out should I visit a brewery this weekend.

Walk-ons charges 14 for 16oz and 18 for 20oz I believe Madddogg said. I know Tiger Tavern charges 7.50 for 10oz and Chimes is 9 for 12oz

Went to Curbside not long ago. All their beers are on the same list...

$6 beers:
xxxx
xxxx
$7 beers:
xxxx
xxxx
$8 beers:
Ghost in the Machine

After an Envie and a Voodoo both came in pints for $6, I figured I'd get a Ghost since it was just $2 more... They served it to me in a fricking 10 oz glass... I was pissed. You can't have beers listed together like they are the same, then serve them in completely different size glasses with no warning.

To be fair, there is another type of beer persona that has evolved through the haze process that is the "better than haze beer drinker" that is also very annoying

I don't understand why people get so mad at Parish. Like all their releases, people are going to lineup and clear them put in a couple of hours despite the price point. Why should Parish change anything they do?

I'm surely not driving an hour away to spend $24 on a 4 pack, but plenty of people still will, and until people decide the cost isn't worth the product, Parish has no incentive to change.

This should have been the end of this thread.

I paid $17 for a Ghost at the Drinkery on Bourbon. What a rip off.

I have never paid $17 for a draft anywhere, ever. I don't think I've ever seen an IPA in double digits on tap at a bar. Pliny the Younger was 7 bucks for 12 oz, here. Thats just competition. Those prices are probably stunting a hidden demand. Drop prices by 25% and you'll probably have more craft beer drinkers and more beers.

There are taprooms in Portland you could buy a 4 pack of good beer and pay the corkage fee and drink all 4 beers for 17 bucks.

frick that noise. I wouldn't pay it. Cost of beer at sporting events is as high as I go.

And for good beer, too. You can get away with no corkage fee if you're on good terms with the bartender...

I'm at Orenco Taphouse, which is probably average, pricewise in Portland. The most expensive IPA on the board is Danker Things at 6.5 bucks a pint. Fixed costs have gotta be higher in Portland than Baton Rouge. The price of the beer has to be higher due to market forces.
