I have southcoast bottled from early June that tastes great.

Fair enough. But that's a pretty drastic change when it seemed they had locked in something that was working for them. Maybe they didn't have any choice in the matter though.

Maybe some of our resident homebrewers can give us an educated guess of the changes in the grain bill and hop schedule that they think could effect it this much.

I didn't have it, but I thought people said opus 2.0 tasted eerily similar to ghost. The more likely explanation is that they tinkered with the recipe to try and differentiate the two beers.

Crowd Control is really good.
Envie is the latest fad to out do Ghost, but will fade soon due to the side trend of bitching about born on dates. Seems as if it is not fresher than the guy next to you then it as good as trash. Poor Ghost, hate to see you go ou tthis way. But Craft drinkers are harsh. Good today and old news by tomorrow

Hops are harvested all at once and then packaged. Most are turned into pellets, which further homogenizes them. Sure, there's a certain terroir to hops that affects a few things from year to year (like Amarillo a few years back), but for the most part they are just like most modern agricultural products in that they are bred for consistency.

As a brewer myself, hops are harvested all at once for the most part and are either processed into pellets or packaged as whole leafs. For GiTM to go from very hazy and juicy looking to crystal clear would be Parish: a) inconsistent filtering technique b) experimenting with different filtering c) using a fining agent d) small tweaks to the grain bill (ex: adding wheat flour for NEIPA haziness which is what was done to OV2.0)

Ruth's Chris can charge a premium because they deliver a superior product that is consistent.
If you're gonna charge $72 for a case straight from the manufacturer, you better give your customers what they're expecting, not a case of low-rent Andygator

I hate to say it but this is accurate. I'm not sure if deciding to make it a semi regular brew has effected it or not. My take is that they are trying to cash in on the buzz they created and ended up killing the gains they made.
