I know how a Monte Cristo is supposed to be prepared but when my daughters were younger they would not touch them, so we made up our own version...

First get two cans of croissants and pinch them together and roll them out.
For a total of four pieces

Then melt a half stick of butter and put some honey in it and spread on

Put those on some parchment paper/cookie sheet and put in the oven on 350 until golden brown. Take them out and leave them on the cookie sheet.

To build it, start by layering your favorite lunch meat (we use ham on the first rolled out croissant, then putting the 2nd croissant on top of that, then a layer of turkey, then the third croissant on top, then your raspberry jam and your favorite cheese (tonight we muenster) then top it off with your last croissant!

Put back in the oven still on 350 for about 10ish minutes to melt the cheese and bind the meat into the buttered croissant. (If you want to add sesame seeds do so with about 5 minutes left)

Cut and enjoy.

The kids love 'em and a few of their friends have enjoyed them over the years and we always get two thumbs up

How’s a traditional one made?

Monte Cristo
I teach this sandwich to my level 2 students at the conclusion of their sandwich unit.

At first they're apprehensive about the combination of flavors but, it ends up being "the best sandwich" of the unit.

Your version seems really tasty & the "bread" looks like it has great texture.

Roughly it's ham, cheese raspberry jam dipped in egg wash and fried and topped with confection sugar

The 3rd picture of that sandwich looks outstanding, even with the jam/jelly.

Thanks for sharing. I could see this working for all kinds of sandwiches - Cuban style, leftover brisket etc

You could probably just use the sheets that are not perforated. that's what I use to make my home version of Klobasneks.

That can of Dr. Thunder in the background made me chuckle.

I wasn’t there but heard this story from those who were. A bunch of Baptists were caravanning to Glorietta N.M. with kids for summer camp. One car had Dr. Thunder and other budget brand drinks. The kids would not drink them and would wait to get Coke and Dr. Pepper from the other cars. The Dr. Thunder parents got all pissed off. Ended up threatening to whip someone’s GD arse all over the parking lot and quit the church.
