Last month I ran across some funny articles about a guy on twitter being slapped down by the "Helper Hand".

Some of the article titles:
"Hamburger Helper Shut Down This Man's Sexist Tweet In The Funniest Way"

"Hamburger Helper just owned a dude on Twitter"

"This bro made a sexist joke on Twitter and got" burned by ... Hamburger Helper?

Some of the responses were pretty good:

Dude said:
"PSA:Knowing how to mix Hamburger Helper doesn't make you wife material."

Helper said:
"And this makes you husband material?"

It has been a long time since I have had Helper. The last time was when I lived in Dallas and they had the meatloaf. I like meatloaf but suck at making it and theirs was pretty good and it came out the same every time I made it.

But anyway, I wound up on the Hamburger Helper website and saw this stuff:

This one had has a five star rating on the website. I looked and it had 15 reviews and every one was a five star. I looked at other flavors on their website and I think it is the only one. The regular stroganoff has a 3 star rating for example.

I got this that weekend and finally made it Monday night. It was pretty darn good. Not great to me but I liked it. I thought it tasted kind of like chili. The best part is it used one deep frying pan with cover, a spoon and measuring cup. It only uses the hamburger, 3 cups of water and the box's ingredients. Very easy cleanup.

I also got the potatoes stroganoff, the next highest rated that I saw at 4-stars. I haven't prepared this one yet.

Has anyone tried this? Anyone on this board willing to admit they have ever eaten hamburger helper? If so, do you have any favorites? If you don't and won't eat it , but allow it, do your kids, friends or neighbors have a favorite?

Asking for a friend !!! Thanks !!!

Several years ago I would make hamburger helper about once every 2 weeks as a bachelor. The cheesy hash browns flavor is the ahit.

I don't know why they call it Hamburger Helper, it tastes just fine by itself.

Haven’t had it since childhood, but the tomato sauce type ones probably taste fine. Hard for anything tomato sauce flavored to taste bad for me.

Not a fan of the traditional cheeseburger mac one though.

Homemade Hamburger Helper

I loved the Cheeseburger Mac version.

I also have a Tuna Helper spreadsheet if anyone is interested.

I think the key with the stroganoff is to get the "Deluxe" version. My kids will eat that stuff up with a quickness, and so will I. It is just beef, noodles, and sauce.

Not bad good if your looking for something simple....the people who don't like it spend way too much money on food

Exactly. I like a nice meal as much as most, but there's something about enjoying a cheap one from time to time. I'm in my late 30s and will still chow down on Ramen, Vienna Sausages, Hamburger Helper, Rice A Roni, and any other pasta in a box dish.

Never have tried it. I still do the original tuna helper.

I make Kraft macaroni and cheese and add a small can of Chicken of the Sea tuna. I put a lot of fresh ground black pepper and go to town.

I have no shame about making it when my wife goes out of town during the week and I have an early work day the next day. My favorite is the Cheesy Italian Shells. I like the Four Cheese Lasagna too.

We had these regularly many years back, I always remembered them as being good. I think they are exactly what they are advertised to be.

These days, it seems just as easy to cook pasta, rice and potato dishes from scratch.

I will admit to having a gallon wax carton container of dehydrated hash brown potatoes (from Sam's) in the cabinet and in a bind, I will whip it out and thirty minutes later I can have a nice substitute for a Waffle House meal.

IMO, the dehydrated hash brown potatoes are a nice starting point for a good hamburger helper dish - Maybe potatoes, ground beef, mushroom soup, onions and mushrooms, all mixed together and cooked in a pan with a lid for awhile.

If mushroom soup grosses you out, you could make a béchamel, sauté mushrooms and onions and go to a lot of work to avoid adulterating your body with Campbell's soup.

Maybe we could have a "Chopped" competition here with dehydrated potatoes as the ingredient, allowing folks to select the other items.

Add some American cheese, more tuna and a can of Cream of Celery soup for an upgrade. The cream of Celery was made for this purpose.

I have nothing against Hamburger Helper. But when I was a kid my parents made Tuna Helper and that shite will make you want to throw it in the trash and make a PB&J for dinner.

My parents loved that crap. IDK what they were thinking.
