Offset Smoker Recommendations

I would like to get an offset stick burning smoker for my backyard. I currently have a Weber Smokey Mountain, and a Backwoods Chubby that is used and was given to me when my brother in law upgraded to the Backwoods G2 Party.
I've looked at those Old Country Smokers at Academy, and it's the one Aaron Franklin uses in his YouTube vids, but then again, he's Aaron Franklin. Anyone have experience with these?
Any recommendations?

How much meat do you intend on cooking at one time? There are smaller offsets, reverse flow and vertical offsets. Realize the larger they are the more fuel you will use.

I do well with the Old Country rig.

I really enjoy using this one. Can grill/bbq without using the smoke box, or if only grilling a few ribeyes, use only the offset box.
Not expensive but lasted me 5 years so far in the weather.
Cast iron grates make it nice too.

How much meat
I would like to fit 2 packer briskets on it with no problem. So I don't think we are talking about a big smoker but I could be wrong.
I understand increased size means increased fuel.

I bought this one used on craigslist. Was probably 5 years old or more. It's done ok but the grates have rusted and peeled quite a bit, as well as the outside surface of the grill, but I have no cover for it. It's not super efficient either with fuel.
It gets the job done but I'd like to upgrade at some point.

its bigger than you think. I have the Yoder Cheyenne, which has been a great smoker. I can fit 2 smaller packers, but that is pushing it. I would have to bump up to the next model to really be comfortable doing 2. take a look at the website for a size comparison.

Currently have an old Klose I found on Craigslist, thick walled but need to replace firebox grates, fix a few things. My next one will be a Moberg:

If you've got the cash, this.

That is my concern. I want to do 2, but then it seems like the price jumps big time to have something that has adequate room to give it some distance from the firebox.

I have a 22.5 WSM
Backwoods Chubby G2
Lang Patio 36.
I find mysrlf now only using the Lang. I would recomend you get a Lang but get the next size up from 36. Also grt a perfect Draft blower for you Lang.
If you order a Lang get the probe ports pre-installed and get the pneumatic tires on front as well as back.
You want be sorry. My Lang blows away both WSM and Backwoods.

I’ve owned an OK Joe barrel type offset with firebox on the side and still own an OK Joe vertical offset. I sold the larger barrel type because only once did I need all the space. The footprint is much smaller and I found it to be mire fuel efficient. Hope this helps.

Give the ones from Academy a good reading of the reviews before/if deciding to purchase one.
I've read lots of negative things, mostly due to thin metal used in making them, doors not sealing and allowing heat and smoke out, fire boxes rotting out, inconsistent temperature control, etc.
There's a lot of great smokers out there, but most of them are $$$$, but worth the cost if you want quality.

Gravity feed if I'm going to spend big money

My buddy has the one from academy and that fricker eats charcoal. Needs some mods to get it to work better b/c it doesn’t “fit” well. We made some mods to the fire box b/c it’s so damn big and eats up charcoal. I got him to ditch to lump and that helped too.
For the record Franklins pits are 5-10Xs the size of those. Depending on what you want to spend I have this GoodOneOpenRange
It’s their take on an offset. It’s a good pit. I’ve done a 15lb brisket and 2 8lb butts at once. It was tight, but it cooked it well. Would be easier with a 12lber and 2 6-7lb butts. It holds more than you think is my point.

My buddy got one of these (sold at Buccees) and I'm impressed with the build quality for the price.

I wasn't talking about his restaurant smokers. He has a youtube channel and he uses an Old Country Pecos that he modified a bit.

Meadow Creek makes some nice offset rigs.
