Any reason why we don’t see more of this? I remember years ago there a place of Jefferson in BR but it closed.
Is there no demand for it? I find pizza selection down here to be sub par.

Then go back to NY.
I would imagine it's like going to NY and saying, damn, all the Cajun food here sucks.

ETA: Try Fleur de lis on government, it's a cash-only mob front if you're looking for that authentic flavor

It was on Restaurant Impossible and the owner got better, but it still closed in less than a year after the show.

Lit Pizza's are kinda like mini NY-style pies, but yeah, there's not a lot of places that make a slice that really compares. Schlitz's crust is pretty similar to NY-style, but the toppings and sauce are sub-par. I know it may sound sacrilegious, but I actually really like Domino's Brooklyn-style crust.

I’m just curious if there is even a demand for it.
We have such great food down here but pizza is one thing that I think people would pay a little more for if it were better.

I'm one who actually digs their pizza for what it is (I know it has its share of haters here), but "NY Style Pizza" it decidedly ain't.

Central Pizza in Lafayette is a good one.

I found it was much like Sbarro Pizza ? They fancy up the toppings but the crust/texture/sauce seemed to be like mall pizza to me. It wasn't bad but it wasn't anything special either.

I hate to ask this, but i was told the owner of Brooklyn Pizzeria died. Anybody know if this is true?
Apologies if he didn't.

Toof & Rat
Yall should check out the original Brooklyn Pizzarea in Gulfport if yall are ever over there. Best damn pizza joint and Italian sandwhiches.
The story I heard is that the Gulfport proprietor came in and taught the Metairie location everything and turned the Metairie location loose as an entirely separate business. Have no info. on the owner and if he is living or not.

I think people just weren't raised eating NY style pizza. My town sure as heck didn't have a pizzeria that made anything remotely similar. They don't know what they're missing, so if they see NY Style pizza as an option that costs a little more, they don't understand why. There's no demand because the market simply does not understand that they're missing out in the same way cities that have no BBQ don't crave BBQ. They don't even think about it as an option.

I don't know if it's considered actual NY style but Red Zeppelin is pretty good pizza in BR for what it is.

He told me he went to NY and worked in a pizzeria for a couple of weeks to learn the ropes. He left without even bothering to pick up his paycheck. He also told me he bought the dough recipe from someone.
