sadly that is the district with the best police response times too. Something needs to be done to get more police on the streets in NOLA>

If you gonna rob a place at least pick one that does some business.
But this sucks I was just walking down the street right there about 30 min before this happened. Guess I'll go eat there sometime this weekend to show support.

Baton Rouge has it's problem but that mayor of New Orleans just doesn't give a frick. I had high hopes for Mitch and really thought he was going to be a good fit but he has been very bad. Now I just don't think he is smart enough to figure out how to get a handle on the crime problem.
That is a shame because like it or not or deserve it or not New Orleans is getting to look very bad in the worlds eye and eventually that is really going to hurt the place - more so than it has already. And that isn't good for anyone and as someone who has been born and raised in Baton Rouge I understand the significance of a healthy New Orleans. Plus I have many great friends from there and they are very worried and pissed as well.

What's really weird is the rather 'ho hum' play these recent ones are getting (Lakeview Harbor was also held up this week) compared to the last round of this shite. Are we just supposed to expect this sort of thing now, as a normal possible consequence of going out to dinner?

New Orleans is doing record tourism year after year and housing prices are at an all time high and the crazy amounts of crime isn't even putting a dent in it. The restaurant and bar stick ups make me pissed, can't stick to the old "never walk alone at night" saying.

NOLA is heavily reliant on tourism obviously, and one has to wonder if/when this will take a toll. Hopefully never, but I'm skeptical.

Not true, imo. He took over a situation where the City was entering a Consent Decree with Justice Dept. for the NOPD. They have made major changes. Mitch isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but in fact N.O. would be dealing with this current uptick in armed robberies. On the other hand, the murder rate has been falling for almost four years now.
