It's my wife birthday and I am looking for a great food place somewhere in the quarter. Any suggestions would help. she is open to all foods so just a great place of the beaten path would be helpful. Thanks for the help

Off the beaten path and the quarter don't go together.
J/J. Yes you can find some great restaurants around the quarter, but don't limit yourself to that area. Do you have a budget or kind of restaurant you are looking for?

I like Felix's, but it's pretty casual.

EAT New Orleans is a great little restaurant on 900 Dumaine. The food is great- very relaxed atmosphere and BYOB. The best prepared chicken livers in New Orleans that I have tasted- and the chicken fried chicken is pretty damn good as well. Fresh ingredients and a relaxed time as well as slightly romantic and intimate.

Sylvain for sure.
Although it's certainly not off the beaten path. But you'll love it.

We hit up Vacherie not too long ago and it was pretty legit. It's on Toulouse a couple of blocks off Bourbon

Orleans Grapevine! EAT is a great suggestion for brunch. BYO champagne for mimosas. Their juice is yum.

Are you married to the Quarter?
Plenty of more attractive options outside.

We had a great meal at Iris a few weekends back. It's nice, easy to get to, and has a good selection of food/drinks.
Muriel's and K-Paul's are my quarter go tos though.
