I would do Paladar as well. It really is very very good.

Out of Gianna and JE they are both fine. I’d probably do Gianna.

But Paladar is maybe my favorite “Italian” place right now.

I also second Costera. I love Spanish and it was my last meal pre-shutdown and first meal post. It’s one of my faves in the entire city.

Went to Costera this past Saturday and it was fantastic.

Went a couple weeks ago and they killed it.

Have done a complete 180 on them since my first visit and will recommend any chance I get.

Damn. Everyone is starting to sell me on Costera. I remember mixed reviews Pre-C. They must've really flipped it around.

Their gin and house made tonic was incredible. I am still thinking about it.

I had that as my cocktail. You are so right.

Would you put it above Italian Barrel or Vincent’s for an anniversary dinner? I’ve never been to Paladar but looking to find a reason to go and curious how it stacks up to the other two. It seems like a different menu so may be hard to compare.

I mean yes? But I don't really ever think about those other two.

They really aren't remotely similar. It is definitely not Creole Italian at all. Definitely more New School than Old School

Everyone who tried Costera seemed to return here with positive reviews. The operator and chef has pedigree. The food and wine list is pretty unique for New Orleans. It’s a good restaurant

That said, I’m not crazy about the ambiance or “space”. Just still kinda has that cheesy La Thai vibe

I like what they did with the space post La Thai.

I've always liked Costera, didn't know people were mixed on it early. I enjoy it every time.

Doesnt keep me from going, just sounds like this fella was looking for something intimate. I dont get that vibe from it.

They have those bulb lights hanging everywhere, the stainless steel bar top, the bright paint, the music. Just for me personally, the aesthetic doesnt match the cuisine IMO. I just get that La Thai, Rock N Sake type vibe. Group of people passing around shared apps, that kinda thing. Again, doesnt change the place for me. Just an opinion

The food at Costera, with good service, makes it. I’d eat their offerings on a picnic table and be happy.

I wasn't impressed with Gianna or Josephine Estelle, out of the two I would go to Gianna.

I would choose Paladar over both of those. I would also choose Domenica over either of them too, but it's not really the quiet anniversary type of place.

Yeah its not intimate but I don't think its anywhere near as bad as a place like Rock N Sake, especially with less tables post covid.

Was shooting for some place new. We are currently narrowed down to Gianna or Paladar.

It can just get loud as there are usually big groups in there eating. Everything is different right now, though.

Gianna and Peche are also pretty loud and not intimate under normal circumstances

JE, Paladar, Italian Barrel, even Vincent’s are more intimate spots if you’re looking for italian

I personally prefer Paladar of the two.

I'd go with Paladar of those two. Gianna is the weakest of the Link lineup IMO. Not to say it isn't worth checking out eventually. Also may have had my hopes too high when I went.

IMO

Cannot go wrong with any of the small plates or pizza. Arancini is a must and the tomato and burrata is slapping right now. Squid ink pasta is full of flavor too

Entrees - their red snapper entree may be the best fish dish in the city and the pappardelle is always good. Someone always orders the Pork Saltimbocca but it’s my least favorite thing there

Their desserts are all good. Wine list is loaded with boutique European offerings. Great spot

As I mentioned earlier, if you can be seated upstairs, it will afford your with a little privacy. And you can look down into the kitchen

Second this. Never had a bad meal there.

Across the street is Le Crepe Nanou. Slightly more casual but still a nice atmosphere, great food, and the best mussels in the city imo.
