New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood gets sh&t on here a lot, but I don't get the hate. Their catfish are legit, their prices are low, and the service is fast.

Middendorfs my personal favorite. Those thin fried catfish combined with the coldest beer mugs i have ever had. Boat dock service, and patio.

This is a great list. Didn't know Adams was still around and Middendorfs is hard to beat.

I enjoy Spahr's off of Hwy 90.

I don't get the love for Middendorfs thin fried catfish..... just as soon batter a sheet of paper and fry it. If I'm eating fish I want fish, not batter.
Agree with the NH&S, I've only eaten at the Houma location and the owner runs a tight ship. Never had a bad meal there.

i think middendorfs would be better if there was some seasoning in the batter. i like the whole thin fried process, but i find their catfish to be on the bland side.

Is Rouse's catfish still really good? I remember loving that stuff.

2,4 and 5 look better to me than 1 and 3.
1 and 3 look like chicken tenders.

I'm friends with the owner of Clesi's. Great guy; great food. Spahrs is my favorite, though.

If you're ever in BR on a friday, go by Thai Pepper on Florida. It's an AYCE place, but you can take out by weight as well. On fridays, they do their 3 Flavored Fish on the lunch buffet. It is a simple, yet perfect, light, fluffy catfish filets with a sweet, spicy sauce on the side.
It's easily the best fried fish in BR plain, and when thrown over some pad thai with that sauce for like $4, is just criminally awesome.

I would be doubtful that a place with that name would be serving real US grown catfish

I don't care where it's from, it's amazing. Seriously, I was skeptical, but tried it after much urging from posters on here, and they way undersold how good it is.

Then why do so many sell out places use fake Asian catfish? Acme and many Asian places do this.
And Hymel's I think does as well and that annoys me.
