Haven’t been to Gianna. Heard it’s good, but portions are small. Went to Sophia when it had just opened, remember it being okay. Nothing memorable, but wasn’t bad.

The Veal and the Gnocchi I had at Gianna was incredible.

So there's that.

Gianna > Josephine Estelle > Sofia if going for italian in the WHD imo.

Paladar 511 is better than them all in that space, though

Sofia is a pretty space , food OK but not special . Haven’t tried Gianna. Agree that Paladar is excellent, surprised it doesn’t get more love on this board.

Hitting up Sophia this weekend....what stood out? Friend says the chicken is amazing...I’m thinking app and a pizza...but the sides look good enough to go for one of the entres.

Haven't been to Gianna or Palladar, but I've been to Sophia and Josephine Estelle. I absolutely loved Sofia. The bistecca fiorentina is really good, as well as the blue crab rissotto and the pork Bolognese. JE was pretty solid but not nearly as good as Sofia.

Damn, I thought Gianna and Josephine Estelle were both pretty mediocre, maybe I should take Sofia off of my list

Well Sofia’s pizza is actually really good, I will give them that. Apps were uninspiring to me. Had the octopus which was barely edible and the “pork belly” which was actually three pieces of cracklin for $20. Group I was with just kinda laughed. I sat at the “chefs table”, which had a view straight into the kitchen. and was watching them crack open packaged pasta. I mean, it is what it is but kinda went hand and hand with the app preparation. Meh. Head chef was in the house too. Tried the alla vodka and cacio e pepe, they weren’t terrible but not something I’d go back for. Good flavor but smaller portioned and priced like a place that’s hand spinning its pasta

Tbh I also had nothing that would bring me back to Estelle or Gianna but I can appreciate them making their pasta in house.

Now Paladar, that’s a place that brings me back for multiple visits

Have you had the octopus app at Justine? I thought it was excellent.

Domenica was always my favorite for Italian when I lived in New Orleans, but that was when Alon was still running the show.

ETA: I do also like Paladar, but I’ve only been twice. Their arancini is solid.
