Apps were shrimp cocktail, chargrilled oysters, tuna, egg rolls. All very good.
Wife had veal Oscar. Very good with a nice bernaise. I think there was a Demi as well.
Friend had cedar plank redfish. Said it was very good.
Rest of us had the “visiting” triple tail, pan-seared with buerre blanc. I had mine with the “cocodrie” topping(crab, mushrooms, green onions). Served over garlic mashed potatoes or Parmesan risotto. The fish was phenomenal. Everyone cleaned their plates.
Butterfinger crème brûlée stole the show from the dessert course.
I’ll be honest… I wasn’t super excited to be going here tonight (group date), but they knocked it out of the park.

It is the best all around restaurant in BR , IMO

We go every other Monday. Their fish is 10/10. Always get the triple tail or tile. They knock their steaks out of the park too. Most non-steak places do not. I had the tournedos this past Monday and it had cabbage confit and sweet potato puree. Outstanding.

Oh- and always pan sauteed. People tend to go for cedar plank, and it's fine, but pan sauteed is sooooooo good.

I rank it below Ruth’s and La Lagniappe based on my experience.
Last time I went was mediocre. Tonight really bumped it up the list for me, though. Everything was great.

See, Lagniappe is good ingredient wise but only has drum besides the tuna/salmon entrees. Blah.

I've ordered fish I've never even heard of at Mansur's.

We’ve discussed this in a previous la lagniappe thread of mine.
My previous experience at Mansur’s have been OK, not great. I specifically ordered the “visiting fish” tonight based on what you said in a prior thread. It was fantastic. Thanks for the rec.

Love eating in the bar area at Mansur's. Great vibe and food.

Main dining room is very sleepy though. Not much fun.

Can’t disagree and don’t know who I would put above for overall output and consistency from the whole menu.

As another said, the bar is good. nice bar for a “casual”’dinner with above average food.

Glad you enjoyed your dinner.

Also glad the thread ends with a cripple fight between Paul Allen and Perm. But not really.

Glad to see they're still doing well. Was one of my favorite places when I lived in BR

I think it’s one of the top 5 in BTR.

Agreed. We go often because they really have something for whatever you're craving. I also appreciate that they run legitimately solid and creative specials on a nightly basis. Chef Meeks is genuinely good at his job.

I'll say this about J Alexander's. The service is always great. They serve a great burger -- and have the best fries in town.

And ... their filet and Hawaiin ribeye, along with a loaded baked potato and macaroni and cheese are easily on par with the top steak restaurants in town.

Plus they have an excellent chocolate cake dessert with vanilla ice cream. For it being a chain, it is a damn good chain restaurant. Very similar to Houston's.
