Just drove by. They are definitely open. Parking lot was full and looks like they had a drive thru going too.

Can we confirm if this is being run by Johnny D'Angelo? Also, do they have a lunch buffet?

I passed by last night and they were packed. Anyone been yet?

My limited research shows the parent company is La Contea, the Italian restaurant on Jefferson Highway. They are the registered owners of the name New York Pizza & Pasta.

That’s who it is. Pretty sure there is one on I-10 around Vidor/Beaumont area and those guys had restaurants in Beaumont.

That pizza looks pretty good. Could be cooked a little longer though.

Tried it tonight. Cooking it longer would only be small step to helping their pizza. It was beyond terrible. The pepperoni and Canadian bacon tasted and looked like the stuff you get on an Albertson’s meat and cheese tray. The crust, if you wanna call it that, was a raw, flavorless, piece of (maybe literal) cardboard. The Freschetta pizza I made for my six year old this week was better. Meatball sub could’ve used some meatballs, otherwise, it was edible. I give this place a few months. I think it was opened as a money laundering front or something. There’s zero chance the owners of La Contea think this place is putting out quality pizza.

I actually ordered take out from there Friday before the game. 18" pepperoni and Lasagna. My pizza was perfect and everyone really enjoyed it! The Lasagna was just ok but not terrible. Sometimes I think people post bad comments just because they think it'll get the most reaction lol!

Glad you had a good experience. I was mad I wasted my money. You either had a much different pizza, or we have different opinions on “perfect.”
Eta...mine was so undercooked, I had to put the slices in a cast iron skillet to finish cooking the crust.

We got a pepperoni and sausage pizza the other night, it was definitely under cooked and the toppings were sparse. I'll give them another chance in a couple of months.

Reporting from a lunchtime visit today...
3 slices were served within 5 minutes of ordering. Definitely not NY pizza, but as close as anyplace in BR is going to get. The crust was a bit fluffy, but I surmise that's the soft BR water playing on the science of the dough. Bonus for not brushing the crust with oil or any other nonsense, thank you. No issues with being undercooked. Not a home run, but not a strikeout either. Will go again.

I agree, DanglingFury. Went tonight and it just didn't taste like anything. I've had better frozen pizzas and what you can get at Costco is 100% better.

am a little surprised with how quick they closed after the Restaurant Impossible show aired. I don't think it lasted another 6 months after. It definitely was busier right after and for a few months
I heard they had some family emergency that required them to shut down the business for a little while. If true, it may not made sense financially to keep it open long-term.

Got a large pepperoni to go last week. I thought it was very good. Crust was bland, cheese and pepperoni both seemed to have good quality and plentiful and sauce was good. Going to order it well done next time. I thought it was a very solid pizza.
