I also suggest replacing the Gumbo Shop with Mr. B's for gumbo and bbq shrimp. There's an oyster app there, as well. Not chargrilled but very good.
If you want the chargrilled from Drago's, go there for a snack during an off time so you don't have to wait for a table or wait long. There are no reservations. Get the chargrilled oysters and move on.

Can I get oysters at Mr B’s? Shrimp at Dragos?
As bad as it sounds, I wouldnt try to do both at one spot (I would recommend skipping Drago’s, its not what it was). My rec would be to skip Gumbo Shop too and hit Mr B’s for BBQ Shrimp (an orig for your lady friend) and Gumbo...then find time for Charbroiled.
Bunches of places are serving chargrilled oysters now & ur comin at a good time - the raw are delicious, too. As Gris said, try to get them as a snack (Drago’s or otherwise) & grab a cocktail one afternoon.
Honestly, the lineup u have - whatever u dont get, you will only miss because u think about it... will b great trip. Unless ur Arse, u cant do it all n 2 days

You can go to the bar at the Hilton Riverside and order from there too without the wait.

The clubs on Frenchman are open every night. dba, Spotted Cat, Maison, Blue Nile, Three Muses all have little to no cover and standard is a 1 drink min per set; and don't forget to drop a few dollars in the tip jar for the band. Snug Harbor is also open on Sundays, but you will need to spend a few more $ to get tickets for whoever is playing that night.

Consider Bacchanal for your live music fix. Go there after dinner Sunday, finish on Frenchmen

I didn't realize that. Thanks. I had a teen with me last time I went and couldn't sit at the bar in Drago's, but we only waited 15 minutes on a Sunday night at about 8.

Robbin the cradle, no, Gris?

No indeed. I was treating my niece.

Check out Coops Place on Decatur if you want a variety plate of Cajun food.

One thing missing on our intenerary - a jazz brunch.
I couldn’t get Sunday brunch reservations at Commanders.
I have reservations at Atchafalaya on Monday, but there’s no live music then.
I could switch those reservations to Sunday, but that means a whole lotta eating on that day (Mr B’s lunch, Commanders dinner)
I could also switch to breakfast at Brennan’s, but that makes for a whole lotta “Brennan family meals” in two days.
Thoughts?

I'd get rid of Mr B's and add in Atchafalaya on Sunday. The food at Atchafalaya is much better.

If you're eating at Mr. B's on Sunday for lunch, you're going to be at the Sunday Jazz Brunch. It's from 10:30am-2:00 pm on Sundays.
If you want gumbo and bbq shrimp along with brunch food, you can eat get a cup of gumbo app, split the bbq shrimp and get brunch entrees or split one.

I'm sorry, but if you think Crabby Jacks is better than Parkway you should be checked into a medical facility of some sort

We gave up on Gumbo Shop a few years ago...it had become so commercialized and blah.
I was in New Orleans last summer for work and decided to try it while in town - they have improved but it is a pure tourist play.

Help me out with some timing here.
We have reservations at Commander's at 6:30 PM. If I buy tickets to Preservation Hall (I don't want to wait in line) am I safe buying tickets to a 9:00 show?
