My fiancé and I are heading down to New Orleans in a couple weekends with just the kids. It will be 5 of us. I booked an Airbnb off Magazine St right near Domenica Pizza
We are doing the fervent in Audubon park on Saturday afternoon
Looking for recommendations for dinner that night and few other things in the area we are staying
The kids aren’t in to “fancy” food. Otherwise I was gonna do Commanders
I love Mr. B’s Bistro and was thinking that was a good option
My fiancé and I went down there a couple years ago and I took her to R&O’s, she loved the roast beef poboy and wants it again
Is there anyone near magazine that compares to R&O’s for their roast beef?
Also any other recommendations in the area we are staying?
TIA

I’m fond of Mr. John’s Steakhouse. It’s a short Uber ride.

I was there for a night last week, and it was more open than I expected.

Went to a few breweries, but that's probably not what you're going for if you have kids with you.

Right by Audubon Park is Avo. It’s fancy but really just upscale Italian food. The Lasagna is legitimately the best lasagna I’ve ever had. It makes you realize why people try and make it in the first place.

I guess that’s one of the things I’m wondering
I realize it’s phase two but most places are still doing dine in with limited occupancy right?

What does "fancy food" mean? Does it need to be burgers and so on or something?

Costera is one of my favorites not far from there, it is Spanish tapas.

You can only laugh at OT threads. We’ve been eating out uninterrupted since March. Local watering hole has been serving. Pretty much business as usual

To answer OP

You have Guy’s Poboys right there. Casamento’s if you want seafood poboys

For dinner, consider La Petite Grocery, Cavan, or Lilette. No fancy, per se, but nice enough for the adults and there will be something the kids will like

If you don't mind going out to City Park, there is a ton of stuff to do with the kids, especially if the weather is nice.

We’ve both already had covid so we don’t care and even if we hadn’t, it would scare us. I know a good bit of things aren’t open as usual, but that’s ok.
Since we have the kids this isn’t a typical party weekend in NOLA
The fiancé wanted to bring her daughters since they have never been so she chose NOLA

I consider LPG and Lilette to be on the fancy side of things but not overly so.

Commander's has a kids menu. As in huge platters of chicken fingers and fries with ice cream for dessert. I would suggest making your reservation now if you plan on going there. They aren't back up to normal hours yet.

Not that I am aware of. We just go to R&O when we want roast beef poboys.

He said “fancy” food

Restaurants are nice enough to celebrate a nice occasion and the kids can eat a burger and fries yea?

That's an important clarification. Both are high end restaurants, but yeah LPG has a burger.

As previously mentioned Commander's does have a kid's menu.

LPG has a bunch of stuff kids can eat. Their menu isn’t real adventurous. Lilette to a lesser degree
