New Orleans Dinner Recommendation

Taking a party of 4 from out of town to dinner in a few weeks in New Orleans. We are looking for a nice place, pretty fine dining, maybe not Galatories but not Walk-Ons.
Have some ideas in mind, but I am more so asking if anyone has any recommendations based on current COVID protocols/situations? For example, Peche was a place that came to mind but I don't know if the atmosphere is poor or the seating situation is a nightmare because of COVID. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you can get a balcony table at Tableau you and your guests will be very pleased. It’s a Brennan restaurant and the pricing is very reasonable.
Should be able to make reservations for the balcony.

Do NOT go to Tableau.
It is an absolutely terrible restaurant. It’s tourist trash.

You mentioned Peche. That would be fine. The atmosphere is casual but not bad. I have been there since the pandemic and the seating arrangements were fine. My favorite seafood restaurant in town is G.W. Fins but Peche is very good.

I agree with Cafe Degas, especially this time of year when the weather is nice since it is semi outdoors. After a few glasses of wine you can imagine that you are at a bistro in the heart of Paris.

Forget about COVID issues...we hit three spots in the city two weeks ago. Every restaurant was rolling.
Take them to Herbsaint, LPG,Clancy’s, Costera or Peche.

I get that back in the day it may have been very good. But I’ve been twice in the last few years and both times service was bad and food was mediocre at best (and I’m being kind).

My $0.02 about the last few restaurants mentioned:
Tableau - Been there about a half dozen times. We go to the quarter the Friday before Mardi Gras and often wind up there for lunch. Food is pretty good, not great. Atmosphere is nice especially on a nice day when the French doors leading out to the balcony are open. Noy a bad place but there are plenty of better options in the Quarter.
Such as,
Galatoire's - This is my favorite restaurant in NOLA. It is a unique place with its unique style of service, but I love it. I go there often.
Clancy's- I love Clancy's but my favorite uptown bistro is Gautreau's. LPG and Coquette are up there too.

Thanks for your input. I also agree with your previous remark about Cafe Degas if one is not interested in the Quarter restaurants. Cafe Degas has great ambiance and food on Esplanade. I regularly go there for a great brunch.
