It was located just off Airline hwy, at the corner of Airline hwy and Commonwealth Blvd. I know it was there in the 90's and probably also the early 2000's it a Scientology Church currently, anyone remember the name?

Not the same place, but Shing's was my go to for the lunch buffet -

The 90’s and 2000’s was the peak, in my opinion, of Hunan’s on Sherwood Forest. It’s still a great restaurant to this day, but I remember it being so busy pretty much every day and the place to be 25 years ago.

I remember Ruston had Wong’s in the early ‘90’s when I was at Tech. Had a life sized cardboard cutout of Carl Malone at the entrance. Good times…

Brings back memories.
When I was at LSU, I’d meet dad there for lunch when he was working in the BR office, infrequently but still good grub and memories.

going off memory here - was that the place that had the raw bar?
( might be thinking of the Bamboo House on Boardwalk Drive off Sherwood Forest)

Not the one you're thinking of, but college me could destroy some Great Wall.

YES!
Particularly at their former location off College Drive, before they had to relocate due to the College Drive widening project

Hate to hijack the thread, but where is the best Chinese buffet in BR now? It's been a while, but the last couple I've tried have seemed cheap and trashy. Is there anything close to "upscale" Chinese buffet in BR?

Is there a good Chinese place south of Perkins Road?

Oriental Pearl on Sherwood/Essen. Hunan has really gone down.

Bamboo House on Boardwalk was my favorite.

Foo Chow in Walker on a Saturday night is among the best Chinese buffets I've ever had. Not sure why it doesn't get more love.

The Royal Hawaiian on Jefferson Highway early 1990s was peak. Food was fantastic. I can't remember if it was a buffet or not. After your meal, the waitress would bring you a damp towel for your hands; it smelled heavenly.

Every time there is one of these Chinese threads I come and post the same thing:
RIP Bamboo House

Cheng's is probably the best in town, but they don't do buffet.

Taste of China ran a weekly coupon in Fridays fun section I would use to take a date out. Baller
