Name a better comfort food than kraft mac & cheese, ground beef & cream of mushroom soup

my mom made this all the time as a kid but i haven't made it in a couple of years and last night my wife randomly surprised me by making this for dinner. i'd marry her all over again if i could. maybe its the nostalgia but this will stick to your bones.

I am not sure what they did with kraft mac and cheese but it no longer tastes the same. I'm glad you still like your favorite dish.

I can't stand Kraft Mac & Cheese anymore ever since I started making my own mac with a roux, real cheese, heavy cream, etc. Replace Kraft with this and it's definitely a better comfort food

I would tear that up.
It's not a quick weeknight meal, but hands down my favorite nostalgic comfort food meal is country fried steak (cubed steak and gravy) with mashed potatoes and baby limas. Plate is missing a split biscuit with more gravy.

its so funny you said that. i noticed something seemd a tad 'off' as well but just thought it was my taste buds being older. i don't normally eat kraft mac & cheese so maybe i should fire up a box of it by itself and see if it tastes different.
good catch.

In response to the original post:
Black Beans and ground beef with Southwestern/Mexican Seasoning, either served as a burrito or just on rice.
2nd place: floured and fried pork chop served with black beans and rice.
Lots of things outrank anything with condensed soup in it.

Ironic that the flavor went to crap right about the same time they came out with the "Deluxe Mac & Cheese" line.
FWIW, the Cracker Barrel Mac & Cheese is the best.

That was basically hamburger helper at our house, and there were no leftovers. Also...
Tuna, mac and cheese, LeSuer peas and mushrooms
Cubed pork cutlets, floured and fried with mashed potatoes and gravy and peas or greens

OP starts a thread about quick comfort food, and you in here saying you only do a béchamel sauce (well "roux" in your words). Bruh...

This is my favorite, which incorporates Kraft Mac & Cheese as well. It's great.

My baw. Just about every scratch made mac and cheese starts with making a blonde roux for the béchamel cheese sauce.
