My sick, disgusting fast food obsession

Filet of Fish with extra tartar sauce from McD's
I can't explain it, because it makes no sense. I don't really like or eat fast food, and I generally do not like most fish. For some reason though I have never been able to go to McDonalds without ordering one of these. It has to be that tartar sauce; it's loaded with cocaine, and yes I want it dripping off of every millimeter of bread. I have been ordering this since at the very least in highschool.
Let the downvotes rain down on me, because I am not proud of this. It's my heroin, and I avoid it as much as possible. Yes it is rare when I hit up the McD, but when I do I have a little piece of heaven in my belly.
Anyone else appreciate the greatness that is the Filet o Fish? What other strange food obsessions do some of you have here? Please tell me I'm not alone

when I lived outside of Nola I would get it. Just seems since seafood is available everywhere in every form possible it fell off radar.

Get the double Filet of Fish with extra tarter. I’m with you that if I go to a McDonald’s it’s for the filet of fish.

I love many fast food items. Yes they are cheap processed foods, but I know that when I get it. I’m not expecting high quality homemade food. I don’t see why people hate on fast food, it’s in a category of its own and not comparable to restaurants. I don’t suggest eating it every day, but the occasional fast food is good.

I used to grab 3 or 4 99cent crispy chicken sandwiches from Wendys or 3 beefy 5-layer burritos from taco bell for the drives back to BR while I was in college.
ETA: didn't know it then, but was definitely a sign of things to come.

Ya know, hating on fast food seemed to be this real thing that happened in the 90s/early 00s as obesity became majorly on the rise.
I always found it kinda funny that fast food is known as THE food that makes people fat, but people don't blink an eye at the folks frequenting their local Chimes/Sammy's/etc. and mowing down on seafood platters, burgers, wings with cheese fries, etc.
I don't eat FF much these days because I'm honestly never in a car at lunch/dinner and need to eat it, but McDonalds is something I love getting when that does happen.
In my observation, FF only makes people fat when they are hitting the drive-thru at non meal times for a "snack" that's meant to be a meal. And sadly, lots of folks do this. But it is what it is. Whatever his name is debunked the FF myths years ago and people still falsely believe it is somehow so much worse than other places.

Two Filet O Fish sandwiches have less calories than a Quarter Pounder meal with fries and taste better and fills you up more...

spot on. Even those salads that people order at restaurants are loaded with sugars, salts and fats. Whenever I go on a diet I do a calorie count, and it is stunning just how many things carry high calories that you wouldn't even think would. It's very difficult to eat right, because we have been conditioned to eat poorly for so long.
As for fast food the main issue I have with it is that it's loaded with preservatives/chemicals along with tons of sodium. I'm not anti fast food, but I do limit my exposure to it.
Our standard with my family is cook lean for the week and then enjoy fun foods on weekends whether it be fast food, thai or whatever. It's all about moderation.

Oh hell yeah! Back in college we had a friend that worked overnight at a gas station, and we would go hang out there after a night out to eat those delicious monstrosities and drink for free. We knew where the cameras were aimed and would hide in the corners away from them while we consumed mass amounts of junk.

The Pilot Station truck stop off of I-10 in Laplace has a good assortment of them that I hit up regularly. I have to get the jalapenos from subway though because of covid
24 hour subway is in there, which is nice when youre rolling through at like 4am.

I still like a Filet o Fish sandwich. I don’t know what it is but I think it’s the steamed bun that does it for me.
