Saltine Oyster Bar in Jackson has them a good bit. They are outstanding.

Cafe Josephine in Sunset gets them. They are outstanding IMO. I don't care for a big 'ol humdinger, I much prefer small and clean, and Murder Points are exactly that.

I can confidently say these are the best raw oysters I've ever had. Discovered them at the Nuit Belge event two years ago and stayed as close as possible to their shucker until they ran out.

I second the opinion. These are by far the best raw oysters I have ever had. I grew up in Eastpoint/Mexico Beach Florida and never thought I would find oysters that could compete. MP are great and I grab a Bussel every time I go thru the area.

There are a ton of farm raised oysters being distributed by Bon Secour, but far and away the best oysters are Navy Cove out of Ft Morgan.
Luke’s has them in Nola, and they have absolutely ruined “regular” oysters for me.
Medium size, super salty, and super clean.

A poster on here is one of the owners and runs Sassy Bass in Ft Morgan, where you can also get them.

They aren’t just farm resided, they’re off-the-bottom oysters that are continually flipped over so the specimen comes out small and deep instead of wide and flat...but being from a different point in the water column makes most of the flavor difference.

I’m sure everyone knew this, it’s just worth restating in a MP oyster thread.

Not quite. Interested in trying them. I'm used to the big gulf oysters we get here. I went to Jolie Pearl once, and they had some perfect sized oysters that were really good...but the price over there is pretty ridiculous for oysters.

Are these oysters that you can get by the half sack somewhere or are they primarily sold to restaurants? I've never had them and now I want some.

Bon Secour Fisheries sells them by the 100 or 50 count box. Not sure if they carry Murder Point. P & J in Nola is also a whole seller for farm raised oysters. Murder Point has gotten into the wholesale business down in Bayou La Batre. The Zirlotts got into the oyster farming business after the oil spill slowed their shrimping business. They are more pricy than Gulf Oysters. If you bath your oysters in cocktail and hot sauce and throw them on a cracker, these oysters are not worth the price your going to pay.

We have been doing the red wine vinegar mix with these but to me they dont need anything. I havent even bothered to squirt lemon.

I like shucking them too. Some of them are hard to open but its a consistent spot to go in at.

Yep there’s a sweet spot to the left of the hinge. I tell people to classify the taste of these oysters to a Chardonnay grape. They take on the flavors of the environment around them. Also the tides and the winds help with the salt and brine. Farms 6 miles apart with have totally different flavor profile.
