not much different than someone munching on popcorn in a regular theatre

but I never understood the appeal of eating while watching a movie

I like the idea of drinks being served, but a full on meal? I don't get it

100% same. I don't even eat dinner in front of a movie in my house.

It's really not any different. Most theaters already serve things like nachos, pickles ( ), and I've even seen pizza before in addition to your standard popcorn and candy.

Only difference is the food at movie tavern is "gourmet" (I use gourmet loosely because it's just decent food).

I agree. Only reason why I ate food when I went was because it was free for the grand opening party. I really didn't enjoy eating in a dark theater on a small table.

Having a beer with my movie in the big reclining leather chair was pretty awesome though.

I had a very similar experience, but I also give MT a pass because it was opening night. They were still hooking up tv's at the bar when we went

I just got chips and queso, along with a lot of beer. Surprisingly the queso was better than some Louisiana tex-mex I've had in the past

Next time I'll probably just go to get drunk and enjoy the comfortable seating. I'll definitely be back, and multiple $5.75 Bass beers is much better spent than a $7 coke I could swim in

I love the idea of drinking at a movie, but does that make y'all have to pee? I feel like I'd have to get up at least once drinking beer for a whole movie.

Is getting up to pee that big of an inconvenience LL?

Yup. I grab a beer beforehand and that's it. I'm not trying to break the seal over a 2 hour flick. I'll miss half of it with my bladder.

Also, thank god for R2R for fighting the good fight.

All the theaters are like this in Naples. They work. Some stop serving before the movie, not all. Different vibe than BR and it hasn't been distracting. Nibbling and drinking wine during a movie is nice.

Your face was probably funny though when they handed you a cookie for dessert, which was probably rubbed on the kitchen floor a few times before being given to you.

Can you even read?

The first 3 lines were cliff notes just for you buddy.

Trust me I wish I could have seen the look on my face when he handed me those cookies too.

Well since service stops 15 min before the movie starts you'd still have to show up roughly an hour before the movie begins. The point is why not just hit a true restaurant before the movie and then just worry about enjoying the movie once your in the theater and not have to worry about your drink refill or when to ask the server for the check.

I get the novelty of places like this but I feel that will wear off soon and inevitably fail.

20 years strong in Texas.

These type of places clear out the riff raff; I gladly pay extra for that.

And, with Movie Tavern, service stops 15 minutes before the movie ends, not begins.

This is key. I'm surprised so many people seem hostile to the idea.

Yea me either. I drink beer and that's about it.

I guess I'm different but I prefer total silence when watching a movie for the first time.
