I just noticed this tonight. Someone may have already posted it but didn't several people predict this place wouldn't make it?
Need to bring back Mellow Mushroom.

Im sure everyone had doubts. They opened at probably the worst time in the history of opening a restaurant. They were almost bound to fail.

That’s a shame, the pizza was good. Never did seem to have customers though.

Is Rotolos the closest pizza place to LSU now? Seems odd LSU doesn’t have a popular pizza place.

You would think a Johnnys, Gattis, or another similar lower cost pizza place would work. Counter service so you don’t spend extra money tipping a waiter.

Nine Dragon should open up a Chinese buffet there and print money.

Never went but that was absolutely terrible timing for them to open.

It's still a decent location hopefully something interesting comes in.

That was 100% management. They can remedy that. Pizza was great!

It was one of those places that we kept saying that we should try sometime. And never did.

Gatti's was located at the North gates for a long time; right next to the current location of Louie's Cafe (I think Newks is in the building now).

And on Highland, Godfathers used to be there across the street from the Chimes.

I don't know why Gattis couldn't keep it going.

I forgot about Fat Boys and City Slice. I would think Fat Boys has the best chance to be the LSU pizza place.

Loved going to the Gattis at lunch between classes.

I was interested in trying this place, but their yelp reviews were horrible and never improved. Those were enough to keep my away. I think many restaurants don't really understand the power of yelp and how much yelp reviews and total star ratings can factor into people's decision making process.

As a restaurant owner, if you're not actively monitoring and trying to improve your reviews on yelp, you're doing yourself and your business a great disservice.

Never had a bad meal there (went for lunch a number of times).

hardly ever a crowd and, frankly, they didn't do much to differentiate from the old Mellow Mushroom relative to decor/layout.

My most recent visit was about 5 weeks ago. Pizza was very good. No complaints. Eaten there 3 times I believe and always got pizza, never tried anything else.

Newks shut down too. When school is out for summer and Christmas break these places barely survive.

Parking stops it from maximizing its space. Lots would put something there….. but big building, minimal parking.

The parking was fine. Not one business in that center is open late. Mellow mushroom did very well there. Nothing brought them down but themselves
