Good call with Acamaya. It’s the kind of place they love.

I’m on the fence with CP. I can’t think of many old school places like that not doing tasting menus or modern stuff that have stars.

CP has the right level od service. But they don't have the menu that usually gets a star. But every city has one or two "how did they get a star" picks. So who knows.
Victoria and Alberts is the best meal I've had and it's only got one star and i would think they would get two or three. It was a five diamond ten course menu that they crafted for me a month in advance. Best experience ever and totally worth $600 for two.

No chance they see any 3s,

Yeah, Inn at Little Washington has 3 stars. There is a documentary from a few years ago that showed the process of them trying to get that third star. There isn't a restaurant in New Orleans close to that level. I'd actually be surprised if any place went straight to two.

I can see Emeril's landing a 2*. They've basically tailormade the place for it

Ate at Le Bernardin last night and the wife and I both agreed that Emerils is every bit as good. I can see them definitely getting 2 stars.

If Emiril's isn't a ** the system is broken. They built the new menu only for the michelin style.
I think August and the now closed Square Root are the only other places in the city on that level. But Aigust being a la cart and not prix frie may hurt them.

That won’t be the only thing that will hurt August. I’ll be surprised if they even get a mention.

Emerils new place doesn't hold a candle on service. That will always be the deciding factor on getting multiple stars.

I forgot about Besh. Yeah he has a tarnish now. Shame. Shaya was so amazing when it first opened too. Saba was never the same as og Shaya.

I believe Dakar has more than one dish

Its an acclaimed restaurant, the chef has become somewhat famous now, and there is some politics when it comes to Michelin Stars

Maybe so. But I think the politics affect the James Beard awards even more.

I'm going for the first time on Wednesday because it's my friend's birthday and she was pretty set on that being where we go (from BR). I was kinda surprised when she told me later that she had been once before, just because all other reviews I've seen of it are that it was fine but no huge desire to go back.

I certainly hope it's better than I've been hearing because it was painful to hand over $600 for 3 of us before alcohol even enters the picture. Hard sell when I hear it's a lot of beans and rice.

Let us know how it goes

I've been curious for a while, but nothing I've read or seen has been enough for to me drop that kind of $$$

Most people I know, including me, can't afford to go to the Dakar's and Emeril's of the world more than once, if that!

It's fun, great food, great experience. And I'm not going back on my dime.
